Description
Jo Atkins’ sixteenth year was disastrous: she lost her dad, was assaulted by a stranger, and then had her heart broken. For the last twenty-five years, she’s believed that nothing could ever be as bad again. She was wrong. Now, still smarting from her recent divorce, pretty, self-effacing Jo finally gathers the courage to enter the dating scene. She meets Claudio, whom she vaguely remembers from her youth, but after a few dates decides he’s creepy and politely tells him ‘thanks but no thanks’. But Claudio has no intention of letting her go. Instead of never seeing him again, Jo wakes up sick and terrified, handcuffed to her own bed. She is given a week to prove her love for Claudio—or he will kill her. Claudio, it turns out, is a man with nothing left to lose. The Venus Trap tackles the emotional impact of divorce, the perils of modern dating and the age-old powers of lust and obsession.
This is one of those books I've been meaning to start, in like, forever. I seem to have had this on my kindle and it's gotten lost in the never ending list of books I want to read. So while being on 48 hour complete rest, and not being able to walk, I thought I'd do myself a favour and start some of the books I've had on my kindle the longest.
I'm so glad I chose this one, Wowzers,,, what a read it turned out to be. I was a little unsure of the story line as I got started, and couldn't for the life of me figure where it was going. But i'm glad I stuck with it as it turned into a real interesting read. Good story line, and believable characters. Some you will like and others you certainly wont.

Title - The Blissfully Dead Author - Louise Voss & Mark Edwards Format - ebook Source - Review copy via Netgalley Rating 5/5
The Blissfully Dead (A Detective Lennon Thriller Book 2) Publication Date: 29 Sept. 2015 She couldn’t believe that he wanted to meet her. He was famous. She was a nobody. Finally, someone could see how special she was… When the body of a teenage girl is found in a London hotel, DI Patrick Lennon is mystified. Nobody saw her or her killer enter the hotel, and there is no apparent motive—until a second teenager is found and Lennon realises somebody is targeting fans of the world’s biggest boy band. As Lennon struggles with both his home life and his rivals on the force, the pressure to catch the killer before he strikes again reaches fever pitch. And when Lennon makes a terrible mistake that ends in disaster, he finds himself in a race to save not only the lives of more teenage girls but also his own career. My Thoughts Well this is the second book I have read from this writing Duo, and the 2nd book to feature DI Patrick Lennon. A character who I got to like in the first book I read. From The Cradle . This was another brilliantly written book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I really want more to read from this series and I want it NOW. I can't wait for the next book. I do believe you could read this book as a stand a lone, but if you are like me, you will want to read the first book first, as although book 2 does give you character backgrounds, you get a better feel and sense of the characters having read the first book first. So Di Lennon is off again with another case. This time trying to figure out who has murdered a young girl. her body found in a hotel and no apparent motive, when a second girl is found the link becomes a little clearer. the pace of this book was spot on, it kept me wanting to read on, to know what was happening next, and who was responsible, I found myself picking up this book at every opportunity. I look forward to reading more from these authors.

Blending police procedural with psychological thriller, From the Cradle will have every parent checking that their children are safe in their beds...then checking again. From the Cradle is the first book in the Detective Lennon Thriller Series
My thoughts.
New authors for me, So I never know what to expect when starting. I'd started one or two books that I couldn't get into. you know that horrible *I really don't know what to read* time. Well by the end of the first Chapter I had had a eye's bulging out my head and a holding my breath moment. Now to me, that is a good start. Then I start to think, well if it sets off so good, can it carry on just as good. And luckily.... yes it did.... And some.......... Children are going missing. The first child was taken from her house. The second from his mother's car. The third from her own bedroom... And it is down to Detective Inspector Patrick Lennon, to try to solve the case. To figure out what is going on and why. Not an easy case, and with demons of his own to overcome, it's going to be a very difficult time for this officer. This is Lennon's most High profile case to date, so obviously he is feeling the pressure. This book really does make you keep nipping into your little one's bedroom to check that she is ok and sleeping well. A brilliantly put together and well written book, and although the story line was about young children going missing, it was a brilliant read. Believable characters also help with the story. I found myself picking up my kindle at every opportunity, just so I could read a little bit more. And it didn't take me long to fly through this book. Every time I thought I had figured it out, it completely changed, Every chapter ended needing you to carry on and read the next one. This book had more twists that a super twister. Absolutely fantastic. I don't know how else to describe it. It was bloody brilliant. I am now looking forward to starting the next book. |
