Title - The Spider in the corner of the room. Author - Nikki Owen Format - ebook Source - Netgalley Plastic surgeon Dr Maria Martinez has Asperger’s. Convicted of killing a priest, she is alone, in prison and has no memory of the murder. DNA evidence places Maria at the scene of the crime, yet she claims she’s innocent. Then she starts to remember… A strange room. Strange people. Being watched. As Maria gets closer to the truth she is drawn into a web of international intrigue and must fight not only to clear her name but to remain alive. I found this quite a difficult book to get into. At one point I almost put it down, but after readings such good reviews I wanted to carry on with it. It is a very well written book, and I think the Aspergers side of it, seems to have been very well researched. ( I have family members who have Aspergers so I could relate to some things) Although some of it felt a little far fetched, it did keep me wanting to know what was going to happen, how things would work out. I just feel although it has great reviews, and well written book, it just wasn’t for me. I really did struggle reading it, and trying to understand some of it.

Author - M A Comley Format - ebook Source - Review copy from Author. Pre- order Now. Amazon UK Publication Date - 26th June 2015 Mel's facebook author page Follow Mel on twitter Impeding Justice facebook page The first book in a new series by M A Comley New York Times bestselling author of the Justice series. Calculated Justice now available as a pre-order also for 99c/99p. DI Sally Parker has a serial killer on her patch. One thing that sets this killer apart from the others she's hunted before: his willingness to leave DNA at each of the crime scenes. It's up to Sally and her partner DS Jack Blackman to find out why before the body count rises to double figures. While Sally is engrossed in the investigation, her ex-husband, Darryl, pays a surprise visit to her new home. His actions not only threaten Sally's new-found confidence, but they also force the DCI to give Sally an ultimatum concerning the case. Can Sally overcome all the obstacles fate has placed in her path and arrest the brazen killer? Another brilliant book from this fantastic author. I have to admit, I was a little dubious when starting this book, as I didn't know what to expect with it being a new series. I have read almost all Mel's other books, and those that have read my other reviews will know i'm a big fan of Lorne. And that I love the Justice Series. So this is the first book in a new series and it kicks off brilliantly. I should have known really that it wouldn't take me long to get into it and really start to like the characters. I really did take to Sally. She appears a very strong minded character. No nonsense just get on with things. But she has a personal life that she is trying to rebuild. She is very vulnerable and seems confused at times with how things happen to her. But strong in the sense that she doesn't want to be beat. and will keep on fighting. While her private life seems all over the show, she's out on a mission with work life, and trying to track down a serial killer. Along with her partner DS Jack Blackman they are searching for the killer who seems to want to leave DNA at each crime scene for them to find, But why is this? There has to be a reason behind it, but can they figure all this out, before anyone else is killed. A brilliant page turner, and I really will look forward to reading more in this series. Getting to know the characters more, and seeing what they come up against in the future will be very interesting. Fantastic start to a new series Mel. You amaze me how you manage it. And with a once-in-a-lifetime chance to learn Flamenco in Spain, could Laura truly learn to dance like nobody’s watching… and love like she’ll never get hurt? I want to just say Fantastic, loved it. And leave it at that. lol. But I can't. But I did. lol.. I started reading this pretty much as soon as I down loaded it. I had read 2 of sue's other books. Love Lies and Lemon cakes. And Snow Angels, Secrets and Christmas Cakes and bloody loved both of them. So when I got the heads up this was available on Netgalley I raced in to request it. And I started it while cooking tea, I can honestly say I don't think i've stood at the oven grinning and laughing for well,,, never lol. Smiling before you get to the end of the first page, you just know it's going to be one of those books that you can't help enjoy and laugh out loud at. Sue just seems to have this way of making you feel good while reading one of her books, the books just seem real, like they are everyday people that you know, in everyday situations that you can relate to. The humor through her books is fantastic. Really big grin readers. (if that makes seance) lots of laugh out loud moments. Having worked her Arse off and saving for her daughters wedding. which didn't end up taking place as planned, Laura is back to working in her boring supermarket job, wanting to lose weight but not wanting to do anything about it. Laura is left do all the mundane day to day things, and dreaming while doing it. She decides to go to Zumba class with her mate Carole. Which turns out to be not for her. But oh so funny for you reading it. After the disastrous Zumba class, she bumps into Tony, who persuades her to join his dance class. This is pretty much where Laura's life changes. And boy does it change. This is one of those stories that makes you think. I can change things if I want to. I'm sure reading this book it will give many women the courage to do what it is they have always dreamed of doing, you just need to get off your Arse and aim for the stars. And that is what Laura set's off to do. Read the book and follow Laura on a life changing journey of ups and downs, and round and rounds. lol. Just brilliant. Can't Praise these books enough. If you want to smile, then read them.

Title - Truly Madly Greekly Author - Mandy Baggot Format - ebook Source - Netgalley Sun, sea and a sexy stranger - a whole lot of fun just got a lot more complicated Capable, confident and career-driven, Ellen had her dream job and a marriage proposal from boyfriend Ross. And when the all-inclusive treats on offer at hotel Blue Vue include one gorgeous, brooding Adonis – Yan – Ellen finds him difficult to resist. But Ellen isn’t looking for love or lust, or anything involving too much ouzo…or is she? I started this book, well because the sunshine had finally shown it's face. And if you are not going away, it doesn't mean you have to be sad. No it means you pick up a fab summer time read, and read all about others being on holiday. the sunshine along with the brilliant way this book is written, helping you even more imagine that you are actually there. And that is exactly how I felt, Like I was on Greek Island. I visited Corfu a few years back, and starting this book really took me back there. I could almost feel the sand beneath my feet, and smell the Gyros Kebabs (oh god how I could eat one of those right now). A great summer time read to put you into a good mood. I really liked the characters and the story line kept me gripped through out. Ellen and her sister Lacey have jetted off to see if this is an ideal place for a wedding. Lacey is getting married to Mark, so it's only right the girls have a week there to make sure everything is as it should be. But are things ever going to be as they should be, and after a week in Corfu can things ever go back to how they once were. A brilliant mix of characters, I loved the way the story went, how it unfolded. this book really delves into dreams, and peoples vulnerabilities, how people see others isn't always how they see themselves. What people expect from you, and what you really are like deep down. I enjoyed reading this, as it was a great change to the crime thrillers i normally read, this is the first book I have read by this author, but I do plan on changing that now I have read this. A great fun and easy read. Title - A Devil Under the Skin Author - Anya Lipska Format - ebook Source - Netgalley The third Kiszka and Kershaw crime thriller. And who is the mysterious and murderous enforcer stalking the streets of London? Meanwhile, time is running out for Kasia. To reach her, Kiszka must confront a gut-wrenching dilemma that will shape the rest of his life. It seems so long ago since I read book oneWhere the Devil Can't Go. And book two Death can't Take a Joke and I really enjoyed both of them. I was so so pleased when I got approved for an early copy of this book via Netgalley I was so looking forward to reading this. Anya just seems to have a knack of dragging you into each page. The books are brilliantly written and this one, book 3 is no exception. We are again reunited with the fantastic characters that are Natalie Kershaw. Janusz Kiszka, and the brilliantly funny Oscar. I just love the friendship again in this book between Janusz and Oscar. When the story started I was wondering how Natalie and Janusz would again come together. This time it is actually when he want's help from Natalie. And as Janusz isn't very keen on the police asking Natalie for help is a big deal for him, and really needed. Janusz is Happy when his girlfriend Kasia has finally decided to move in with him. and leave her husband. Their 3 year relationship finally seems to be heading in the direction he wants it to. That is until Kasia disappears. Vanishes with no word. Has she had second thoughts? Is she no longer leaving her good for nothing husband? Or is there something more sinister going on? ~It's down to Janusz to figure it all out, he won't settle until he has answers and he wants them now. With an awful lot of obstacles in his way can he manage to figure out where she has gone and why? In this book Natalie is out of sorts as such, having been suspended from her job, following an incident. But she still comes through and shows what a fantastic character she is, needing more than inner strength to get through this latest set of issues. But again she manages to make decisions in her life that need making. And decisions on her future that only her can make. This book ended in a way, that it could go a number of ways as the series progresses. I know which way I would like things to go, but we will have to wait and see. Another WELL DONE ANYA........... AMAZING. A fantastically written book. A series that I would advise reading from book one. A Journey I look forward to continuing with Kershaw and Kiszka, I look forward to reading more from this author. To read my reviews on other books by this author, click Here Book 25 After thirty years of service, former Chief Constable Bob Skinner faces the possible end of his police career, at its pinnacle. A quiet trip to Catalunya to contemplate his future soon takes on a different flavour when Skinner is approached by an old friend, media owner Xavier Aislado, with an unusual request. One of his business's brightest talents, Hector Sureda Roca, has vanished without a trace. Now it's up to Skinner to track him down. But as he conducts his search it soon becomes clear that another manhunt is also in progress, and that he himself is the target. While his daughter Alex fights that battle on the home front, his search for Sureda takes one sinister turn after another, until he is faced with the toughest question of all. Is natural justice sometimes the only answer? My thoughts 5/5 Well here we are at book 25. I can’t believe how many books are in this series. A series I stumbled on by accident. I bought book 3 in a charity shop, then when I got home discovered it was part of a series, and ended up buying books 1 and 2, so I could read them in order. I loved the books, and every other one that has followed since. Some more than others. With this one, I don’t believe it would matter if you had not read any of the previous books, as there is enough background information available throughout the story. But if you are anything like me, you would want to read them from the beginning to have a better understanding of everything that goes on. This is one of those series having read it over many years, that one day I would love to get the whole collection again, and start reading them again. Bob Skinner, I just love Big Bob and everything about him. He’s a difficult character at times. There are many sides to Bob, but the wrong side is not where you want to be. I love how we are still following a lot of the same character from older books, and seeing how they have got on in life. Its a bit like a reunion when you haven’t read one his books for a while and then come back to them, you slowly start to remember who was who, and what they did, with whom and when. I liked how this story also focused on Bob’s Eldest daughter Alexis. And think it could be that maybe future books will feature her more than her father. Which ever way Quintin goes with his writing, Bob, Alexis.. I will certainly be reading it. I’m not going to go on about the story, I think the synopsis gives more than enough of what is going on. And I really don’t want to spoil a brilliant read for anyone. Cant wait for the next one. I received a review copy of this book for an honest opinion |
