Poison By Jacqui Rose @JacPereirauk #Poison #Review @AvonBooksUK @SanjanaCunniah @Rosethisis26/2/2020 Description The heart-racing new gangland thriller from bestselling author Jacqui Rose. Perfect for fans of Kimberley Chambers’ The Sting and Martina Cole. THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE YOU SHOULD NEVER CROSS In a life of crime, loyalty means everything – even if you don’t always see eye to eye. But when Vaughn Sadler speaks up to get Franny Doyle sent down, he’s broken every rule in the book to win checkmate. AND OTHERS YOU SHOULDN’T UNDERESTIMATE… Holed up in prison, Franny has more than one score to settle – but she’s starting with Vaughn. Because you don’t grass on your own, no matter what. And though she may be behind bars, she will get revenge – whatever the cost. Before, there was just bad blood running through her veins. But now, there is poison…
This is the 4th book featuring Franny, Alfie and Vaughan.
I may have said this before, but by god I'm glad this author is back. I missed her books for far to long. This lady can damn well write a page turner. Book you end up addicted to and cannot put them down until you finish. Then unfortunately you are left with a book hangover. My god I love this authors work. We are back in the lives of Alfie Jenner, Franny Doyle and Vaughn Sadler, some of the underworlds ruthless criminals. They maybe criminals but after so many books you can't help but like them. There are scores to settle, fights to be had, deals to be made or broken. This book has everything you would want from a gritty read. These characters are so good to read about, they actually feel like you are back with old friends. I guess these books could be read as standalones, but I believe you'd get a better reading experience by reading them all in order. If you have never read these books start with the first one, my goodness you're in for a treat, It wouldn't surprise me if you end up reading them back to back. I certainly couldn't live their lifestyle but I love reading about it. Just fantastic, I'm really not sure what more I can say. A first class read as always from an author who knows what her readers want.

SHE WAS MADE IN THE EAST END . . .
For young Queenie, life in the backstreets of Whitechapel was a lesson in survival – Hitler’s bombs hit those with nothing the hardest. When danger strikes close to home, Queenie finds an ally in Mrs O’Leary, whose two sons are the kingpins of the East End. But while the O’Learys are the light in Queenie’s life, fate has a different path in store. AND MEN ARE WHAT THEIR MOTHERS MAKE THEM . . . Now married to the useless Albie Butler, Queenie is raising her children to fight their own battles. If the O’Learys taught her anything, it was that surviving meant doing whatever you had to, no questions asked, and family always comes first. The Butler boys will make sure their mother’s name becomes East End legend. MEET QUEENIE. THIS IS HER STORY. What can I say. I really was looking forward to this and when I received an ARC from the publishers I was thrilled. I started reading as soon as I got the chance, I was due to go in hospital for surgery on my foot so knew I'd have lots of time to read it and didn't need to rush. (who am I kidding) I read a good chunk of this when I come around from the anaesthetic, and while waiting to be allowed home. When I got home later that night I picked the book up again, and I couldn't for the life in me remember what the heck I had read. lol I thought saving some of it was a great idea to help to recovery but clearly I was wrong. I purchased the kindle copy and decided I was going to start it again from the beginning, which is exactly what I did. What a fantastic read. I have to admit, I was concerned at first with KC going back to the beginning and giving us an insight into Queenies life. I thought we knew all we needed to know through the Butler series. Wrong again! I think this book ties off perfectly the series. As it's a prequel I would say you could actually read it as the first book, but don't. It's really much better reading after you have read the series as answers some questions you didn't realise you had. I'm guessing like me, everyone reading this will again want to go back and re read the Butler series, I expect all the series to fly up the charts all over again. This would also make a fantastic box ser. As with all Kimberley's books this is a tough, gritty page turner. Unlike other authors in this genre, Kimberley's books haven't faded or lost their brilliance, Kimberley really does know what her readers want, and despite having a big fan base, she still delivers. Nothing is taken for granted. I think that's is why readers know they can trust going to her books again and again.. Queenie has had a varied life, She knew what she wanted and went for it. Her character is one you will never forget about once you have read about her. Once of the best characters in a book series I've known. She is one of those characters I think I could read about daily and still not get fed up with. Along with her sister Viv they really are a pair to be reckoned with. Queenie is certainly the head of her family, reading about her earlier days has been an absolute honour. For me, this is the BEST book yet. How on earth is KC going to top this one? I think the Barr had been set real high this time. Certainly another addictive read you will struggle to put down, and SHOCK. OMG I wasn't expecting that! I even decided I was reading it with my signed cover on. KC signed this at a book signing in Manchester around 3 years ago.
‘An absolute masterpiece’ ANGELA MARSONSThe gripping new novel from million-copy bestseller, Mel Sherratt.
‘I love all Mel Sherratt’s books’ IAN RANKIN ‘Twists and turns and delivers a satisfying shot of tension’ RACHEL ABBOTT The truth can be a dangerous thing… When a young boy falls from a balcony in a block of flats, DS Grace Allendale witnesses the shocking aftermath of the tragic event. But strangely, no one will admit to seeing anything – and the parents will only tell the police that it was an accident. Determined to sort the truth from the lies, Grace is thrown into a case that takes her to the darkest corners of the criminal world – and strikes closer to home than she could have ever imagined… A gripping and pacey thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat from the moment you turn the first page. The perfect read for fans of Martina Cole.
When a young child is thrown from a balcony of the flats, DS Grace Allendale is sent to investigate. Life on most estates mean that the Police are not someone you talk to. No one will say if they saw anything and are saying it's an accident. It seems everyone feels this was no accident but they still wont talk.
Grace knows that people are telling lies, including the boys parents but she needs to figure out why and what actually happened. How can you keep quiet if someone has harmed your child. As always this was a thrilling read from a very talented author. I've found each book in this series somehow gets better each time. This is one of those books you really don't want to end. Yet you can't stop reading which means the end comes around all to soon. Although I think if these books were thousands of pages I'd still think they were to short. I've never yet felt let down by one of Mel's books and this one is as good as all her others. A great addition to a brilliant series. I loved everything about this book and highly recommend.
YOU HAD A SECRET. ALICE FOUND OUT.
'A highly entertaining, gripping and compulsive crime read, with many twists and turns' ***** ___________ Alice Teale walked out of school at the end of a bright spring day. She's not been seen since. Alice was popular and well-liked, and her boyfriend, friends and family are desperate to find her. But soon it's clear that everyone in her life has something to hide. Then the police receive a disturbing package. Pages from Alice's precious diary. Who could have sent them? And what have they done with Alice? ___________ Praise for Howard Linskey: 'THIS STORY WILL CAUSE NIGHTMARES, IT IS THAT GOOD' DAILY MAIL 'DARK, CLEVER AND ENGROSSING' C. L. Taylor 'I WAS HOOKED FROM START TO FINISH' LJ Ross 'ONE OF THE BEST WRITERS AROUND' Mark Billingham
I have to be honest I really don't know what I was expecting from this book. I knew I'd read other works by this author so thought I'd just give it a go, an open mind to start with.
The setting and the story line of this book was done brilliantly. It really helped with the great characters to draw you into those pages. It mad you want to continue to read no matter what else you needed to do, reading really takes over when you start this book, so if you've got plans, put them on hold if you intend to start this book. Alice Teal, walked out of school one day and was never seen again. Why, where did she go? It's down to the unlikely duo DI Lucas Black and DC Beth Winter to figure that out. This is now a case they need to work on, and things will certainly not be easy for them. An interesting and addictive read that I can highly recommend.
