When loyalty is everything, betrayal hits harder. Anna Davis has grown up. She’s not the naive runaway who escaped her vicious gangland boyfriend anymore. She’s tougher than ever and she won’t let anyone take advantage of her – or the people she loves. Anna’s devoted boyfriend, East End baron Freddie Tyler, is in trouble. There’s a rat in his organisation and he needs to stop the leaks before a very big mistake from his past is revealed to people who will want swift and brutal revenge. Anna wants to help Freddie but she’s got problems of her own. Her best friend Tanya’s mother has turned up, and is staking a claim on Tanya’s share of their club. With Tanya buying her mum’s reformed sinner act, Anna knows she needs to act before both their friendship and Club Anya goes up in flames. But if there’s one thing Anna and Freddie have learned, it’s how to play the game, and as their enemies close in they’ll fight with everything they’ve got to protect the life they’ve built.
What did I think?
Book 4 to feature Anna Davis. What another brilliant read. Emma Tallon has really set the bar high with these books. I have loved each and every one of them. From the opening page I was captured back into the world of Anna, Tanya and Freddie and what a world it is. If you haven't read the last book yet then you may want to stop reading now. Tanya is still in hospital from the results of the ending of the last book. Recovery is slow but Anna is still there for her, still willing everything to be good, even though Anna is going through her own hell. When Tanya's long lost mother turns up, Anna is very suspicious of her. Does she have a right to be or has Rosie finally turned a corner and come o make amends with her daughter. Trying to keep club Anya afloat, dealing with so many demons is Anna taking on to much. Freddie is still by her side but knows his Anna is no this woman walking around and just functioning. He'll do all he can to help Anna and get his Anna back to him. We do get to see a little more of Tanya's background in this book. I found it great getting to know her a little more, I feel I know these characters that bit more with each of the books I've read. Tanya's background was interesting and really added to the story and helped understand her character that bit more. A fantastic addition to this series, another book that will have you up all night needing and wanting to read it. I just can't fault this series at all, it has everything you want from a gangland thriller. Drugs, Prostitution, betrayal, mafia, gangs, deception, family, loyalty. oh boy I could go on. Did I say this was an epic read? At times you want to think you know which way the book is going to go, you don't so don't bother brilliant turns in this book help keep you gripped from start to end, then when you reach the end you give a big shout out of NOOOO, all the time reading the book you want to get to the end, when you get there then the end had come to soon, you want the book to go on, and on... I think another 300 pages just wouldn't have been enough. Addictive Read. Fans of Kimberley chambers, Jessie Keane, Mandasue Heller, Casey Kelleher will love these books, I can't recommend them highly enough.

Author Bio:
Emma Tallon is a British, gritty crime writer, adventurer, Londoner and mother to a young son. Starting her career a few years ago as a ghostwriter, Emma crafted some of the most adventurous, edgy and heart-wrenching stories you can find on the shelves today. In March 2017 Emma stepped out of the literary shadows and self-published her first book, Life Game. The book was an instant success, the results far exceeding anything she had expected. As news of Life Games popularity spread, she joined forces with W.F.Howes and the audiobook was launched in October 2017. In December 2017, Emma signed a three book deal with publishers Bookouture. This included Life Game which was changed, re-edited and re-released as Runaway Girl. Drawing inspiration for her books from a mixture of her own observations and an active imagination, the characters Emma paints are colourful and larger than life. Her story lines are an interesting recipe of deep emotion and violent grit, that keep her readers engrossed. With more books in the works for this series already, Emma has many more stories planned out for the future. Previously published as Chasing the Traveller A fast-paced, totally unputdownable crime thriller that fans of Mel Sherratt, Mandasue Heller and Kimberley Chambers will absolutely love.
My thoughts.
I've been wanting to read this book for so long. I first won a copy of Chasing the Traveller, which this book was first called. I didn't get around to reading it for one thing or another always got in the way. Deciding I needed to read some of the books I wanted to read and not just books I needed to review, I dived into this one while passing away time as my little girl was in theatre. I knew the beginning of it quite well as I seemed to have started it not taken anything in then started again, repeat. I decided to wait until we got home and I could sit back and actually get started with out interuptions. Once I started there was no stopping me, Although the subject matter isn't a nice one, I found this such an easy book to read. I wasn't trying to take in eleventy billion characters and figure out who was who. We follow the story, the life of Kat Denton. A lady who is in a very abusive and controlling marriage. This story follows Kat on a massive journey. I really had strong emotions through this book and really did feel for Kat. When she finally escaped the marriage we see Kat returning to how things all started, learning of her life before meeting Jimmy and then how things changed once she met him. Her life could only get better but how she does this is up to her. This book really shows what can happen when in a controlling, abusive relationship. How things are portrayed as 'normal'. how a person can start to believe that they are at fault for everything they do wrong, and even everything they do right. The author has done brilliantly bringing this subject out, and showing that we never know what goes on behind closed doors, as they say. Brilliantly written and a fantastic yet easy read. OMG, Kerry is certainly one of my fav authors at the moment. Boy this woman can write.
The second instalment of Kerry Barnes’ explosive new series!Do you live by the rules, or die by them?

But when the so-called Governor is out to take her down, she has her own decision to make – either fight, run, or write her own rule book…
What did I think?
Well where do you start, there is so, so much I want to say about this book, this series. It's absolutely brilliant, it's one of those books that once you start you get lost, lost in the pages, lost with the characters, nothing else in the world matters at the time of reading because you can't think of anything else other than the book. Epic, Just E P I C! This is a must read. This will be going on my 2019 'Must Read' list I loved the previous book 'The Hunted' and was so looking forward to this, now I've finished 'The Rules' I need 'The Choice' and I need it now. I know there are bigger problems in the world, but my biggest problem in my bookish world is waiting on book 3. July can't come quick enough. This is one of those books, you want to scream and shout about, but have to be so careful as to not give anything away. What I can say is I love the characters, I love the story line, I have gotten to know a little more of each charcter as the book has gone on and feel like i've been on a journey with them. I really can't wait to find out what is in store next. Kerry, keep these coming, keep these amazing characters and story lines you make up in your head, oming, becuase i need more.
‘Compulsive reading’ JANE CORRY
‘Full of tension’ KAREN HAMILTON She wants your life – and she’ll do anything to get it… Erica has always wanted to be exactly like her neighbour, Faye: beautiful, thin, and a mother. But Faye’s life isn’t as perfect as it seems – she has a terrible secret, and slowly but surely, it is threatening to destroy her and everything she holds dear. When Faye’s daughter Tamsin goes missing after school, the police turn to Erica. But is Erica the only one who has been enviously watching Faye? Or is there another threat hiding in the shadows…? An unsettling, claustrophobic thriller about jealousy, greed and desire from Sunday Times bestseller Amanda Robson. Thrilled to be sharing an extract of this book with you
When my run is over, even though I actually enjoyed it for the first time, I feel light-headed, as if I am about to faint. I hobble back to my flat and collapse on my bed. I fall into a deep sleep and dream.
My dream is so sharp. So clear. I’m in my muddy blue tracksuit, my pain has disappeared and I am running effortlessly, wearing gold Lycra and shiny purple trainers, which cushion my feet. People turn their heads as I pass, wanting to admire my fitness. My surreal body is perfect for a sportswear advert. I dream that Nike have asked me to model for them next week. I am running to pick Tamsin up from school. She steps from the classroom door and her face lights up as soon as she sees me; blue eyes with a sapphire shine. She runs into my arms. I hold her against me, wanting to protect her for ever. Tamsin, my heart sings, Tamsin my love. Then I wake up in my cold damp flat. I look down at my body, my heavy arms and thighs, my baggy clothing that needs washing. Tamsin is not my girl. The dream was so beautiful that when I realise it was only a dream I almost cry.
