My Rating 4/5
Thank you to Netgalley and the Publishers for a review copy of this book.
It's a hot July morning in the Dorset town of Broadchurch when Beth Latimer realises that her eleven-year-old son, Danny, is missing. As Beth searches desperately for her boy, her best friend, local police officer DS Ellie Miller, arrives at work to find that the promotion she was promised has been given to disreputable Scottish outsider DI Alec Hardy.
When Danny's body is found on the beach Ellie must put her feelings aside as she works with DI Hardy to solve the mystery of Danny's death. As the case becomes a murder investigation the news hits the national press, jolting sleepy Broadchurch into the national spotlight.
As the town's secrets begin to unravel, members of this tight-knit community begin to consider those in their midst. Right now it's impossible to know who to trust...
This is one of those books you see and think you want to read, you then have it on your kindle and it get's lost between all the other little books lurking away in there, book's that seem to be spreading like little gremlins and getting out of hand until you forget what you have got.
So While having a nose through said kindle, I spotted I hadn't yet read this. And I started it. So at last having finally read it, although I have to admit I have never seen the TV series. So there will be no comparison from me with that. TV is ok when you don't have books to read. lol
I believe this is based on the first series, and as I said I have not watched the TV series, but I think from talking with other people, the book seems to have a lot more to offer, which I normally find is the case with TV/Book adaptions.
The book is very well written, A page turner for sure. And an interesting storyline keeping you on your toes the whole way through. Although the subject of Murder and Children can be a little upsetting, we have to remind ourselves with a well written story, that the book is only fiction. It really is well put together.
