To catch a villain sometimes you have to become one.
Bailey's Back! From the bestselling author of Jailbird. Detective Constable Bailey Morgan is back doing what she does best – working undercover. This time she has to infiltrate the inner circle of a notorious underworld family. Posing as a fellow villain, she is on a one-woman mission to bring the family to their knees. But things are never that simple. Bailey finds that she is forced to confront shadowy wraiths from her past and will come face-to-face with a set of devastating revelations that will shatter her world and threaten her very existence. With only herself to trust, Bailey is on her own and the stakes are higher than ever. Heart-stopping and gripping. Perfect for the fans of hit TV shows such as Line of Duty and Gangs of London.
Another brilliant read from this author.
The main character is undercover Detective Constable Bailey Morgan. This character is fantastic. I love everything about her, the author has done an amazing job Building a character that can do nothing but grow. Bailey has to infiltrate the inner circle of a notorious underworld family. Posing as a fellow villain, she is on a one-woman mission to bring the family to their knees. But we all know this isn't going to be easy or straight forward and with a family as tight as The Malloy family. This family may contain nuts, if you have an allergy stay away from them. They are not the nicest of families and the lengths they go to, to remain notorious is not for the faint hearted. Twists, turns a rollercoaster of a ride but one that will leave you wondering what the hell can come next for Bailey. Can Baily get in with them, can she bring them down. Is her personal life going to interfere with her mission or will she lose focus. Reading this book is the only way you'll find out. Becoming a huge fan of this authors work and I for one can't wait for more. I think this author is well suited to this genre and will be flying high with some of the best very soon.

As she pieces together the evidence, dark secrets begin to unravel. Can Hanlon work out what is going on before another floating body is found...? Discover an addictive new crime series, perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Robert Bryndza and Lisa Regan. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Isn't that what they say. Well I do, I know I shouldn't but heyho….. This cover when I saw it really reminded me of a book I've previously read and I loved that book, so decided I needed to also read this one. It's a great read, interesting and will keep your attention while reading. This is a new author for me and as always I really enjoy finding out what is on offer. Detective Hanlon is addicted to violence. She likes the rush, the danger, the losing control... Fancy that a cop with issues, a cop who likes violence, well I was a little suprised as Detective Hanlon is introduced to us, just how much she does like violence. Hanlon has been suspended from duty on the force for her violent behaviour. So having no work to attend then the best thing is to get away. Somewhere nice and quiet to relax, where she can't get into trouble. NO, thats not on the cards either. She does get away, somewhere nice, somewhere that sounds very nice, a small island in Scotland. It soon becomes clear that trouble follows Hanlon about because obviously she doesn't go looking for it... There really are a number of odd characters through this book, but it was fun getting to know some of them. Hanlong becomes involved in the case of a girl who has been found dead, she can't help herself but get involved in the investigation. There is so much more going on in this book, I really don't want to be giving anything away, but it's worth a read, it's a very easy read at less that 300 pages it didn't seem to take long. I read this over a couple of days. The plot is interesting, you are kept guessing at the who and why, it would be a great read for any armchair detective.
A dark secret and a deadly score to settle...
In 1997 teenager Sophie White and her three girlfriends decide they want to lose their innocence before summer is over. Roping in her childhood buddy Gareth and his mates, Sophie holds a party to get 'the deed' over and done with, but the night doesn’t end as planned. Twenty years later, the group are brought back together when Gareth is killed in a car accident and Sophie begins receiving threatening messages. It seems the party wasn’t as innocent as everyone thought and now someone wants payback. A gripping, highly addictive game of cat and mouse where the past comes back with vengeance. I recently read Stalker by Gemma Rogers and enjoyed it, I knew i'd be watching out for any other books by her. When I saw Payback on 'Netgalley I was thrilled when my request to read an ARC of it was approved.
It took me no time at all to fly through the pages of this book. I found it a very easy and enjoyable read. I really think Gemma is going to be an author to watch out for, her style of writing is what helps keep you gripped, enough going on and suspense to keep you wanting to read on. I loved the idea behind this story, how your teenage years can, in years to come change your life totally. What you think is just teenage fun can have a effect on people years down the line. Friends decided they are all ready to lose their virginity. Deciding they should all do this at the same time the organise a little get together with a group of friends and decide who will be paired up with who. Years later when one of the group is killed in an accident, things start to come back to haunt Sophie, how can she change things that happened in the past. A gripping read that will leave you wanting more. When you’re working undercover the smallest mistake can cost you your life. Detective Constable Bailey Morgan has been out of the undercover game since her last job went horribly wrong, leaving her with scars inside and out. When her colleague Alice is found dead whilst working deep cover in a women’s prison, Bailey steps in to replace her. Working alone, Bailey embarks on a dangerous journey through the murky underbelly of the prison and soon discovers that Alice’s death was part of a spate of brutal murders. Surrounded by prison officers, criminals and lowlifes, the slightest mistake could cost Bailey her life. Illicit drug trafficking, prison gangs and corruption are just some of the things she’s up against… and behind it all lurks a sinister and terrifying secret that will truly test her survival instincts. Heart-stopping and gripping. Perfect for the fans of hit TV shows such as Line of Duty, Orange is the New Black and Bad Girls.
Ohhhhh don't you just love it when you find yourself a new author. What a brilliant book this was. I loved every moment of it and found it a thrilling read.
When I saw this book I had a slight feeling it was going to something similar to a lot of other books I had read, yet I was still eager to give it a go.. I'm so glad I did. It was exciting, fresh, realistic it was gripping, so much so that each time real life took over and I had to put my kindle down I couldn't wait to pick it up again. Some great character in this book and I love the turns and the way the book went. When Bailey is offered the chance to go under cover in a women's prison I don't think she realised just what sort of danger she could be in. Her friend and fellow office had just been murdered while do the roll that Baily is now going to do. How deep corruption in the prison goes is unclear which is why it's decided that no one, not even the prison governor will know that Bailey is undercover. A tense gripping read that drags you into the storyline. An author I will certainly watch out for in the future. |
