Can you really buy happiness?
Singer Helen Troy loves being an A-list celebrity.
There are the endless perks, private jets, fancy cars and more money than she’ll ever need.
But when Helen is kidnapped during a night out in London, she discovers there’s a serious downside to being rich, famous and beautiful.
D.C.I Sam Quinn, of the Met’s Celebrity Crime Squad, knows that Helen has become the tragic victim of her own success.
His own actress wife Karen suffered the same fate.
As he begins to investigate her abduction, he loses his prime suspect.
But when more are bumped off in gang-style killings – and especially when an execution takes place in a police interview room – it’s seriously embarrassing for the Met and a major headache for D.C.I Quinn.
Helen has been dating philandering Russian oligarch Leon Serova – one of the growing number who have being snapping up the top properties as well as developing some questionable business interests across the capital.
But Mr Serova has a jealous rival in a former business partner who seems only too happy to assist the police.
A picture of Helen’s body pops up on the internet but things don’t stack up for D.C.I Quinn who discovers that five more other glamorous and successful young women have suffered the very same fate.
But is Helen Troy as dead as she looks?
The Depraved is a gripping thriller perfect for fans of Taken.

4/5 Having just recently read Stark Warning, I was eager to start this one. I grew to like DCI Sam Quinn in the last book, and was looking forward to reading more about his car-crash lifestyle. This time around DCI Sam Quinn, of the Met’s Celebrity Crime Squad is faced with a new case.
Helen Troy is kidnapped during a night out in London, Rich and famous Helen, a singer is an A list celebrity.
As Sam Quinn begins this investigation, things start to go wrong. The pressure is piled on him, and how he will cope could go anyway.
This is an easy to follow story, an easy read, and will keep your attention though out the book.
I'm looking forward to reading more from this author and hoping to see a bit more of Sam in the future. I'd love to see if he ever sorts his life out.

Prepare to be gripped by the heart-stopping new thriller from the author of The Madam.
South London detective Sarah Mason is a single mother. It’s a tough life, but Sarah gets by. She and her ex-husband, fellow detective Adam Boyd, adore their 15-month-old daughter Molly.
Until Sarah’s world falls apart when she receives a devastating threat: Her daughter has been taken, and the abductor plans to raise Molly as their own, as punishment for something Sarah did.
Sarah is forced to stand back while her team try to track down the kidnapper. But her colleagues aren’t working fast enough to find Molly. To save her daughter, Sarah must take matters into her own hands, in a desperate hunt that will take her to the very depths of London’s underworld.
To say I was a little excited when I received a copy of this book through the post, would be an understatement. I was honoured that the Author had read previous reviews I'd done of his books, and then sent me a copy of this to read at my leisure, with no pressure to write a review.
I couldn't wait to get started.
The book starts off fantastically and really had me gripped, Introduced to South London detective Sarah Mason. Sarah is a single mother to 15 month old Molly she's working a tough job and she just about seems to scrape through with the help of childcare from her parents.
Sarah's life is torn apart when she received a message, her daughter has been kidnapped. Sarah is frantic and doesn't know what the hell she is supposed to do. Forced to step back and let her work colleagues investigate, her life is in turmoil.
Sarah needs to know why, who and how. What has she done wrong, and just who is it that as taken her daughter?
What follows is then an emotional roller coaster of a ride, How far would you go to save your child. Follow Sarah and her ex husband Adam on there nail biting journey.
It's a tense read, and very easy to follow and very easy to get lost inside the pages. Written in chapters for each person, Sarah, Adam and DCI Brennan, it was great following each one, and seeing things from different points of view.
I don't feel I've given to much away here as this all happens in the opening pages, we then follow on to find out how Sarah, her husband the team cope with the case and little Molly's abduction.
This was a very interesting read, gripping in parts had me needing to turn the pages as quick as I could as soon as I started it. I read this over a weekend, luckily I didn't have anything planned so I wasn't letting anyone down when I refused to move until I'd read it all. This book really did drag me in.
A perfect crime needs a perfect alibi…
Crime reporter Beth Chambers is committed to uncovering the truth – and she’s not afraid of bending the rules to get there.
When troubled soap star Megan Fuller is found stabbed to death in her South London home, all eyes are on her ex-husband – the notorious gangster, Danny Shapiro.
Determined to expose Danny as a cold-blooded killer, Beth obsessively pursues him. But in her hunt for the truth, her family are set to pay the ultimate price…
I have to say I really did enjoy this book. I found it a very interesting but easy read.
Earlier this year I read Jamie Ravens Debut book The Madam. My review of that book can be read here. So when I saw this one available on Netgalley I couldn't help myself but request it, even though I had put myself on a Netgalley ban, while I try and play catch up with my outstanding books.
I have to say I'm glad i broke my Netgalley ban to get this book, because I thouroghly enjoyed it.
Crime reporter Beth Chambers seems to be someone who will do what it takes to get an exclusive story. And that doesn't alway mean following the rules.
Megan Fuller is an actress, or she was before she was murdered. Her Ex husband Danny Shapiro is one of the suspects and needs to make sure his alibi is water tight, he know's he didn't do it, but can he prove to others that he didn't.
The story in this book is totally beliveable, and at times I wanted to give Beth a slap or two for her wrecklessness, knowing she has a small child at home, upsetting some of the underworld criminals is not the best way to go. Having said that I reallly liked her character. I think her being a reporter really added to the intensity of the story.
The plot is done brilliantly the way it unfolds, and you are wondering all the way through which way the story is going to go.
I really got caught up in this book, and wanted to read it at every opportunity.
A Brilliantly well put together gritty story.
