I didn't know this series could get any better, But this is by far my favorite so far. This book will certainly be in my Top ten books of 2015. I enjoyed it so bloody much. It's amazing how this author is delivering book after book at such a high standard, and each book keeps you wanting more. Kim is back, and this time working a case that is slightly out of her comfort zone. But determined and head strong Kim sets out to solve yet another case. This time she is heading up the case of two missing girls. the girls have been kidnapped after leaving the local Leisure center. But these are no ordinary kidnappers, these have a game to play. and play it they do. Evil twisted minds, that destroy and wreck families. Families and friendships torn apart and put through hell. This really has to be every parents nightmare. And can Kim cope when the pressure is on. This was an absolutly brilliant read. I wanted to sit and read at every opportunity. But then as I got towards the 3/4 mark, I had to start slowing down, because I really didn't want this book to end. Gutted I have to wait for another one. This is one of those book's that if you discover it when a few others have been written after it, you would just have to dive right into the next one. Kim is one of those characters that really grows on you over time. She is a character I really do like. If you have not yet read the first two books, I really would recommend doing so before reading this, purely for getting to know the background of Kim. But you would get away with reading it as a stand alone. Angela, I don't know how you do it, but by god please keep doing it.

When a rapist is found mutilated in a brutal attack, Detective Kim Stone and her team are called in to bring a swift resolution. But, as more vengeful killings come to light, it soon becomes clear that there is someone far more sinister at work. With the investigation quickly gathering momentum, Kim finds herself exposed to great danger and in the sights of a lethal individual undertaking their own twisted experiment. Up against a sociopath who seems to know her every weakness, for Detective Stone, each move she makes could be deadly. As the body count starts to mount, Kim will have to dig deeper than ever before to stop the killing. And this time - it’s personal. What did I think............ Well Just WOW. but I guess I can't leave it at that. This book needs reading, and needs reading now. I was so excited to discover book 2 was due out, and so soon after book 1. Anyone who read book one will be eagerly awaiting this one. To say earlier this year Angela's first book was published is unbelievable, I knew when I read the first book that Angela had a big job ahead of her if she was going to make book 2 just as good, or in this case even better. but by god she had only gone on topped it in unbelievable style. Loved everything about this book. I really have got to like Kim. There is something different about her. I like the relationship between Kim and Bryant. There is that serious side of 2 coppers working together, then there is that fun side of them, where they just seem to compliment each other, they seem to bounce off each other, I love the way Angela has created the chemistry between them both. This case seems a particularly difficult one, as Stone and Bryant are faced with a Child abuse case. But Kim is not sure when they catch the abuser that that is the end of it. And something makes her carry on digging. We also have the murder of a rapist to figure out too. It seems that the therapist of the rape victim is playing games with her patients, this is not going to end well. I love how we got more of a look into Kim the person rather than Kim the copper. She is going to be one amazing character to follow. and I for one really do want to read more about her. I am to scared to say too much about the book for fear of spoiling any of the story. It really is a fantastic read, Gripping, twisty, and grabs you by the neck so you can not breath while reading it. Along with Silent Scream, up to now these two books are in my top 10 of 2015. A big well done to Angela, you really should be bloody proud of yourself. Silent Scream Angela Marsons. Five figures gather round a shallow grave. An innocent life had been taken but the pact had been made … bound in blood. Authors facebook page Follow on Twitter I have to admit, I was sooooooo looking forward to reading this book. I have read a few different reviews on it, and though it really did sound like something I would enjoy. So I would like to say a big thank you to @Netgalley and @Kimthebookworm @bookouture for allowing me the chance to read an early e copy of this book. MY Views Don't ya just love it when you find another author to add to your Must Read author List. I started this book, not having a real clue what it was going to be like, This is one of those books, that as soon as I see the cover I know I need to read it, regardless what the back cover says. I know, I know, don't judge a book by it's cover, but be honest, who doesn't do this. So I started reading, And OH wowzerzzz. Once started it is one of those books, that take over you, you have to read, and carry on reading, Unfortunately real life still exists so while stairing a pot on the stove, i read a couple more pages, while the little one destroyed my house (I mean played nice) - I read a few more pages. Human bones are Found on the site of what was once A secure unit for soldiers, a borstal then a children s home, its a site that doesn't ever seem to have been a happy place. somewhere that seems to hold a lot of secrets and mysteries. And we all know in a good book, secrets can not stay a secret. It really gripped me from early on. With some real good Characters. I also found among the dark and gruesome details of the crime, there was moments where I had to smile at things that were said. The author still managed to put one or two funnier lighter moments into what could have been just a grizzly book. The Relationship between Character was really well built. And I like how we get to know Kim through this book. Kim is one of those Character I really like, Bit of a no nonsense get on with it, or do-one kind of person, if it needs saying she seems to have a knack to saying it. The relationship between f Kim and her team Was just right for me, I enjoyed it when they were dealing with things and chatting together. I think they are going to have a great working relationship. To me this can be as important as a good story line. Something about Kim and her team didn't make me think of any other Detective/Police story I had read, and this is unusual, as much as I try not to, I do compare lead Character to others. The twists and turns in this book really do keep you gripped and make for very interesting reading. At times you think you have things nicely figured out. then realize you haven't. As always when doing a review, i fear for giving to much of the story away, so i'm not even going to attempt not to. I will say if you like a bloody good crime book, then this is a must read. As this is Angela's Debut Crime book, I really can't wait to see what comes next. This was one of those books, that if you discover a couple of years after publication, you read it, enjoy it, then dive right in and but then next book and then the next book so you can read them all back to back. And I love it when that happens. I was disappointed at the end of this book, that the next one wasn't ready for me to read yet. It was that good. I take my hat off to Angela and really do look forward to hearing/reading a lot more from this author. What people are saying about Silent Scream ‘A superb debut by an assured new writer. Blending sharp wit with emotion, I thoroughly enjoyed the ride alongside DI Kim Stone and look forward to the next outing.’ Mel Sherratt 'I absolutely loved it! ... This one is one of the best crime thrillers I've read in a long time, and that includes mainstream authors such as James Patterson! I would seriously put this book in the same league.' Fiona’s Book Reviews ‘I have not been so impressed by a debut novel in a long time, and I'm actually now itching for more from D.I. Kim Stone and the rest of her squad. …D.I. Kim Stone is like the British Jane Rizzoli. She's so ballsy and doesn't understand the meaning of the word no. I LOVE heroines who just do what they want and sod the consequences and Kim did that, right from the beginning as people keep turning up dead, people who are all connected to a children's home that burned down. If you were ever wondering how to write a gripping, wholly engaging crime novel, just have a read of Silent Scream and marvel at how Angela Marsons has done it. I can't wait for the second book, because this one was a top-notch crime thriller.’ Leah Loves ‘I started reading ‘Silent Scream’ thinking I would just read a few chapters. I ended up reading it all… I love it when an author chooses a dark topic and does it incredibly well… An excellent read and one I would happily recommend.’ Northern Crime ‘This is a fantastic debut novel by Marsons. The blurb said that if you were a fan of Val McDermid and Mark Billingham you would love this book and being a huge fan of both I thought I would give it a go and I was pleasantly surprised… With lots of twists and turns this is a real page turner and I would highly recommend it.’ The Laughing Librarian About Angela Marsons
Angela Marsons was born and raised in the Black Country and still lives there, along with her long-term partner, as well as a bouncy Labrador and a potty-mouthed African Grey parrot. Although she has been writing since her early teens, Silent Scream is her first novel. |
