Description
The perfect marriage. A devastating secret. An impossible choice. Lucy was always sure of one thing – her future with husband and soulmate Luke. But after eight long, heartbreaking years trying to have a baby, that future is crumbling before her eyes. When a terrible accident puts Luke into a coma, Lucy is forced to reassess everything she thought she wanted. Then Stella arrives. A woman Lucy’s never met, but with a secret that will change her world forever . .
What an amazing yet emotional read, I was in pieces right at the beginning of this book. This book at the beginning brought back so many memories and our journey to conception.
I could fully relate to all that Lucy and her husband Luke were going through. The emotion in the book was real. The descriptions of them going through IVF was just spot on. The emotions of wanting a baby so much, that you will go through anything to get there. Regular scans, Check ups the never ending tests, the exhaustion. The mind changing experiences. When Luke is involved in an accident, Lucy needs to decide just what it is she really wants from life. There are going to be shocks in store that will suddenly put everyone's lives into perspective. This was although at times an emotional read, it was enjoyable. I did however find the book a little repetitive as it went on. That aside, it was a decent read. One to really get your attention.

Police sergeant Lacey Flint thinks she’s safe.
She thinks her new job with the river police, and her new life on a house boat, will keep her away from danger. But she’s wrong. When Lacey discovers a body in the water, and sinister offerings appear in her home, she fears someone is trying to expose her darkest secret. And the river is the last place she should be.
This is book 4 in the Lacey Flint series . I have just realised, as I finished this book that I seem to have jumped from book one to book four. I don't know how that happened.
Ahh well, i've read it now, I can go back and read the other two books. Lacey Flint book 4. I like the character that is Lacey Flint. She's quite interesting, yet complex. A little out of control at times, but it works well for her. I thought this book seemed a little slow at the start, but it soon changed when it ramped up a gear. Lacey is now working with the River Police. Once i had gotten my head around which character was which, this turned into a really enjoyable read. I look forward to reading more from this author, and have just downloaded a short story from Amazon to keep me going.
The lifeless body sat, hands bound, silver tape over his mouth. Patches of blood had soaked into the cheap carpet around him. Zac had spent years gaining scientific insight into the mind: human motivation and behaviour. And this scene wasn’t right...
It’s been five years since Detective Zac Boateng’s daughter was murdered and her killer was never found. Now Zac is back working for the Metropolitan Police and is more determined than ever to bring the city’s killers to justice. When a man is found brutally murdered in a rundown south London shop, all fingers point to the highly intelligent and manipulative Darian Wallace. Two years ago, the victim helped send him to prison. And he’s just been released. Still grieving, Zac knows it will take everything he's got to catch this dangerously clever killer. But just as he feels he’s getting closer, he realises all is not quite as it seems and he makes a devastating personal discovery. Zac has a choice to make – risk letting this killer escape or watch his daughter’s murderer get away again… Thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for an ARC of this book.I have to say, this book had me from the opening pages, it kicks off with you holding your breath, by the time i'd finished it, I needed an oxygen tank. OMG AND THIS IS A DEBUT. Wow I can't wait to see what more this author has in store for us. I can see this becoming another of my must read detective series. Eagerly awaiting the next one. I love discovering new authors, and this is certainly one that's been added to my 'must read any future books' list. When pawnbroker Ivor Harris is found dead, having been tortured and killed with a hammer to his head, it's down to Zac and his team to not only figure out the whys of this brutal attack, but it's down to them to solve it. What an interesting character Detective Zac Boateng is, I really think i'm going to enjoy this character and following him on journey. Still struggling to come to terms with the death of his daughter 5 years previously. Zac takes any opportunity to jump back into investigating the case. This is all done without the knowledge of others. His little girl was gunned down on trip to the shop with her daddy, and this is something Zac will never get over. Maybe if he got the answers he needed he could move on from it. But how far would a father go to get answers? I'm not sure where Bookouture keep finding these amazing writers, but i'm so glad they do.
It was fate that she crossed my path. And that is why I chose her.The day Louisa and James bring their newborn son home from the hospital marks a new beginning for all of them. To hold their child in their arms, makes all the stress and trauma of fertility treatment worth it. Little Cory is theirs and theirs alone. Or so they think…
After her mother’s suicide when she was a child, Louisa’s life took an even darker turn. But meeting James changed everything. She can trust him to protect her, and to never leave her. Even if deep down, she worries that she has never told him the full truth about her past, or the truth about their baby. But someone knows all her secrets – and that person is watching and waiting, with a twisted game that will try to take everything Louisa holds dear. Perfect for fans of Louise Jensen.

What a read this turned out to be. A Mothers Sacrifice by Gemma Metcalfe is an interesting read. It's one of those books that you can't quite decide how you feel about it. All the way through I was trying to put the pieces together and weigh up what could be happening. I didn't guess the outcome of the book that's for sure. The day Louisa and James bring their newborn son home from hospital marks a new beginning for them. To hold their child in the armas makes all the stress and trauma of fertility treatment worth it. Little Cory is theirs and theirs alone, Or so they think. After her mothers suicide when she was a child, Louisa's life took an even darker turn. But meeting James changed everything, she can trust him to protect her and never leave her, even though deep down she worries that she never told him the full truth about her past. Opening with Louisa in the throes of childbirth, you can really believe the is the start of something beautiful. Little Cory is going to change their lives, only not in the way that all new parents expect it to change. I was holding my breath right from the start of this book. It was a tense and gripping read. When it seems that Louisa could be suffering from post natal depression, she starts to think that someone wants to take her baby from her. Things soon spiral out of control. Is this Louisa's past that is playing tricks with her mind or something more sinister. Well worth reading, and an outcome I really wasn't expecting. #TheBabysitter #NetGalley

Mark and Melissa Cain are thrilled to have found Jade, a babysitter who is brilliant with their young children. Having seen her own house burn to the ground, Jade needs them as much as they need her. And as Melissa begins to slip into depression, it’s Jade who is left picking up the pieces. But Mark soon notices things aren’t quite as they seem. Things at home feel wrong, and as Mark begins to investigate their seemingly perfect sitter, what he discovers shocks him to his core. He’s met Jade before. And now he suspects he might know what she wants … Mark is in a race against time to protect his family. But what will he find as he goes back to his family home? If you loved reading The Girl on the Train, Behind Closed Doors and The Sister, you’ll love the suspense of The Babysitter. This unputdownable read will have you turning the pages until way after dark.
What a great read. As this book started and I was slowly getting into the story, I just knew something was going to happen. The anticipation of it, was a similar feeling to not wanting to look under the bed, in case the bed monster was lurking to grab you and eat you up. Great build up and suspense the story.
What a great read this was. When Jade's cottage burns down, she is taken in by Mark and Melissa, she then becomes Mark and Melissa's babysitter. It seems Melissa is slowly losing the plot, Mark starts to doubt her and her ability to look after the children and is so grateful that Jade is there to lend a hand. Odd things have started to happen that looks like Melissa isn't coping at all. But it seems Jade is not at all the helpful babysitter she portrays. This book was good, it was damn good. Guessing and thinking the whole way through it. It has you wondering if you are on the right track, have you figured it out? then you change your mind. Then you change it again. This story shows how one person can change the lives of others. This book felt totally different from the previous books I have read by this author, A great read and her other books are well worth checking out if you haven't already read them. I look forward to reading more books by Sheryl Browne in the future.
