Praise for The Silent House:‘A unique, chilling, fast-paced read that plunges you into a world of silence that has so much to say’ Deborah Masson ‘A superb innovation for the crime genre . . . a brilliantly terrifying premise and a twisty, gripping tale’ Philippa East ‘Sinister, layered, atmospheric … I couldn’t turn the pages quickly enough’ Debbie Howells ‘A nail-biting page-turner of a thriller … The sense of a community isolated, and all the conflicts and tensions that brings, adds satisfying layers of complexity’ James Oswald i was thrilled at the chance of reading this book. I have read this authors previous work and I can honestly say I was really looking forward to this one.
This is one of those books that really does drag you in. Paige Northwood is a BSL interpreter. (British Sign Laungage) Paige interprets for a lot of different people. After being contacted and finding out that a house was on fire, Paige attends to help Lukas whose house is on fire, Lukas is deaf so needs Paige to sign for him so he can understand what is going on. Lukas' wife is still inside the burning building. It is soon discovered that Lukas' wife Nadia was all ready dead when the fire started and it wasn't the fire that killed her. Paige believes that Lukas is innocent and will go as far as she can to help him. However not everyone is being straight with Paige. Why are people not telling her the full facts, what are things being kept from her. Deceipt, family. love, loyalty this book has it all. Full of twist yet a very easy read to fly through. Once started I was so engrosed in the story I couldn't put it down. Loved everything about this book and more. I look forward to reading more from this author and I have no problems what so ever recommending this book.

Erin was a good girl. But someone wanted her dead…‘I love all Mel Sherratt’s books’ IAN RANKIN
‘An absolute masterpiece’ ANGELA MARSONS ‘Twists and turns and delivers a satisfying shot of tension’ RACHEL ABBOTT When sixteen-year-old Erin Ellis is attacked, she dies in the arms of her best friend Molly, just metres from her home. Molly is the surviving girl but says she easily could have been the victim – it was a random mugging gone wrong. With inconclusive evidence, DS Grace Allendale must dig deep within the tight-knit Stoke community for leads. And she soon finds that someone had a motive to kill Erin. As the investigation unfolds, Grace is reminded of a horrifying case she worked on earlier in her career. Is the past coming back to haunt her? And can she push through her fear to catch Erin’s killer before it’s too late?
Oh my, what a read this was. Absolutely loved it. Another gritty page turner part of an equally gritty series. If you have not read this authors work then now would be as good a time as any to start it.
It's tough but I think this is my favourite one of the series so far and this is book 4. Best friends, teenagers Erin and Molly are on their way home, so close to home when Erin is mugged. A fatal stab wound leaves Erin to die in the arms of her best friend. Life is never going to be the same for Molly. We have Erin's family in turmoil yet as the girls mothers are also best friends it hit's Molly's family just as hard. DS Grace Allendale is called in to investigate. As Molly was with Erin when it happened Grace needs to get as much info as she possibly can from Molly but clearly the friend is traumatised and grieving. Grace and her team have to dig deep to get clues, and as the story unfolds we learn just what the girls had been doing before the fatal incident. Could this be linked to why Erin died or is this totally seperate?. I could not put this book down, I wanted and needed to know what had happened and believe the author did a fantastic job with the twists and finally letting us know who and why. An ending I really don't think I was expecting. Families in this book who I wanted to console, I felt very much a part of it all. Brilliant characters and brilliant story line. I soooooo can't wait for the next one. Well done Mel, you never fail. This book has been added to my 2020 Must Reads list. I started with reading a sample/teaser of this book. It was enough to get me hooked and I was thrilled when I got the chance to read the full book.
This is the first I have read of this author and it's the first in a series, that means I know I will have more to look forward to in the near future. Never knowing what you are going to get when reading from a new author to me, I have to go in with an open mind. This book didn't disappoint, It was interesting, enthralling and gripping. I genuinely didn't have a clue who was 'the Christmas Killer' and a little surprised when I did find out. Enough twists and turns in this book to keep you on the edge and guessing. Moving from city life to village life is going to be so different for DI James Walker. He's moving for an easier pace of life. Just knowing that you know that where ever he goes it is not going to be quite. He's going to be dragged into something. That is exactly what happens. Get a mug of hot chocolate, and put your feet up. get ready for a thrilling read. Enjoy!

Well where do I start. Probably by saying the same thing I say every time I read one of this authors books. Another first class read. A fantastic book, Back with familiar characters. Franny Doyle, Harry Jacobs and Alfie Jennings and of course Vaughn Sadler. Characters you either love or hate, I think they are some of the best fictional characters about.
A fast paced book, once you start this make sure your diary is clear, you will not want to put this down once you open it. JR certainly knows what her readers want and it's delivered in each and every book. Chapter after chapter this book has it all going on. Gangland Crime at it's best. It will leave you gasping for more. #Strangers #NetGalley Strangers by C.L. Taylor @Avonbooksuk #Review #BlogTour @callytaylor11/4/2020 The Sunday Times bestseller and Richard & Judy Book Club author of Sleep returns with her most gripping book yet. Ursula, Gareth and Alice have never met before. Ursula thinks she killed the love of her life. Gareth’s been receiving strange postcards. And Alice is being stalked. None of them are used to relying on others – but when the three strangers’ lives unexpectedly collide, there’s only one thing for it: they have to stick together. Otherwise, one of them will die. Three strangers, two secrets, one terrifying evening. The million-copy bestseller returns with a gripping new novel that will keep you guessing until the end. My thoughts It feels like ages since I've sat and read a hard back book, when this bad boy landed at my door I was thrilled and couldn't wait to get started. Mug of tea, foot stool and away I went. I have read some of this authors other books and always enjoyed them, so I was really looking forward to this. This turned out to be a mighty fine read. The lives of three very different characters come together in this nail biting read. Ursula, Gareth and Alice all individuals, all different characters whose lives you can follow. Mainly focused around the shopping centre where Alice is a Shop Manager, Gareth works for the security team and Ursula is lets say a delivery driver. Three very different people who will all need to come together to save themselves. This book is full of twists and turns a real page turner and at this moment in time a real good distraction from the realties of life. I love how the book unfolded the way we got to know how things were or had happened, its written brilliantly and will grab you in from the early pages. If there is one thing I could criticise about this book is 'I don't know how to review it without giving to much away' So what I'm going to say is, it's now Easter weekend 2020, the country is in lock down. Get yourself comfortable, get your feet up and treat yourself to this book. you will not be disappointed. This will take you to a world of fiction far away from your today world. Thank you to the author for writing a book I needed to read. For me books are the best medicine in the world, and this would be a great read for anyone who enjoys a gripping read, open the pages and let that great big fishing hook reel you in. C.L. If someone was in your house, you’d know … Wouldn’t you? But the Hunter family are deaf, and don’t hear a thing when a shocking crime takes place in the middle of the night. Instead, they wake up to their worst nightmare: the murder of their daughter.
The police call Paige Northwood to the scene to interpret for the witnesses. They’re in shock, but Paige senses the Hunters are hiding something. One by one, people from Paige’s community start to fall under suspicion. But who would kill a little girl? Was it an intruder? Or was the murderer closer to home? This mystery will keep you up all night – perfect for fans of The Silent Patient and Cara Hunter‘Sinister, layered, atmospheric … I couldn’t turn the pages quickly enough’ Debbie Howells ‘A nail-biting page-turner of a thriller … The sense of a community isolated, and all the conflicts and tensions that brings, adds satisfying layers of complexity’ James Oswald ‘Delicate, brutal, impossible to put down. The Silent House is a disquieting thriller’ Ross Armstrong
Well, well. What a good little book that turned out to be. I really wasn't sure what to expect from this book, a new author for me, a debut and the family featured are deaf. I couldn't wait to start.
I do think the author has managed to write this book very well, It was intriguing and interesting. It kept my interest the whole way through. I can't imagine waking and knowing someone had been in your house. But for someone to get in and commit murder while you are sleeping, wow, that's scary. More so when there was never any chance of you hearing anything because you are deaf. It's reading things like this that really make you sit up and realise what an honour it is to be able to hear. Paige Northwood is a British sign language interpreter, she is called in to help the Hunter family and the police. Paige is effectively the voice for deaf. Paige does seem to get herself a little too close to the investigation, she needs reminding occasionally that she is there to help. Yet Paige is convinced the family are not telling her everything. Someone is keepng secrets, can Paige get the police to listen to her before she's kicked off for interfering. The tension and mystery in this book is put together very well, I think because it seems unique with the characters being deaf, it really adds to the story it adds to the tension, it helps the story flow really well. It's brilliantly written considering it's a debut and I know i'll be looking out for more books by this author. I not only wanted to keep reading, i needed to keep reading. Poison By Jacqui Rose @JacPereirauk #Poison #Review @AvonBooksUK @SanjanaCunniah @Rosethisis26/2/2020 Description The heart-racing new gangland thriller from bestselling author Jacqui Rose. And though she may be behind bars, she will get revenge – whatever the cost. Before, there was just bad blood running through her veins. But now, there is poison…
This is the 4th book featuring Franny, Alfie and Vaughan.
I may have said this before, but by god I'm glad this author is back. I missed her books for far to long. This lady can damn well write a page turner. Book you end up addicted to and cannot put them down until you finish. Then unfortunately you are left with a book hangover. My god I love this authors work. We are back in the lives of Alfie Jenner, Franny Doyle and Vaughn Sadler, some of the underworlds ruthless criminals. They maybe criminals but after so many books you can't help but like them. There are scores to settle, fights to be had, deals to be made or broken. This book has everything you would want from a gritty read. These characters are so good to read about, they actually feel like you are back with old friends. I guess these books could be read as standalones, but I believe you'd get a better reading experience by reading them all in order. If you have never read these books start with the first one, my goodness you're in for a treat, It wouldn't surprise me if you end up reading them back to back. I certainly couldn't live their lifestyle but I love reading about it. Just fantastic, I'm really not sure what more I can say. A first class read as always from an author who knows what her readers want. Thrilled to be taking part in this blog tour

It was only about two miles from MIT HQ to Barnes Common, but it was rush hour and therefore slow going even with the blue light flashing.
They finally arrived at their destination at five-thirty. It was a rural setting that should have been deserted and peaceful. Instead it was a scene of frenzied activity. On one side of the road three patrol cars, a fast-response ambulance and a forensics van were parked in front of the wall to the cemetery that Sweeny had mentioned. On the opposite side a small group had gathered on a rough patch of gravel leading to a field. They included four officers in hi-vis jackets, a paramedic and a woman with a small dog on a lead. Walker parked up next to the ambulance and Anna was the first out. The sky had clouded over and she was glad because it had taken the heat out of the day. It meant she could leave her jacket on without sweating buckets. ‘Well, it’s time to find out what we have here,’ she said as she led the way across the road. The detectives flashed their warrant cards and one of the uniforms quickly put them in the picture. ‘We’ve just been informed that the pathologist will be here any minute,’ he said. He gestured to a metal gate behind him that blocked any vehicles driving onto the field, but there was a smaller gate to one side which led to an unpaved walking trail. ‘We’re trying to find out who owns the land so we can get them to open the gate,’ he went on. ‘The body is about forty yards into those woods over to the right. The SOCOs arrived ten minutes ago and are getting themselves sorted.’ ‘So who found it?’ Anna asked. The officer nodded towards the woman with the dog, who was speaking to the paramedic. ‘Her name’s Joyce Connor. Her mutt sniffed it out and she called it in. But understandably she’s in a bit of a state.’ ‘We’ll talk to her in a moment,’ Anna said. ‘First we’ll see the body for ourselves.’ ‘Well, you need to brace yourselves,’ the officer said. ‘It really isn’t a pretty sight.’
My Thoughts
After recently finishing In Safe Hands, Book 1 in the 'Anna Tate' series I couldn't wait to dive into book 2. It's funny I'd had book one on my kindle for some time, one of those I'll read it soon, books. I finally got around to reading it while trying to rest and grit my teeth through the pain of a trapped nerve. It was a great distraction and as soon as I finished it, I started book 2 right away. I felt I got to know Anna Tate quite well in the first book, yet I feel like I know her a whole lot better after reading book 2. She's a character that will be interesting to grow with over future books. An amazingly written storyline that grabs you from the opening pages and doesn't let you go until you have read the last word. It's one of those books you can't wait to pick up and fly through, but then as you get near the end of it, you don't want it to end. I could have read another 10 chapters of this book and not felt like I'd had enough. I certainly look forward to reading more from this author and more from this series. Fighting through a murder case and having the demons of her missing daughter, Anna has a lot on her plate. I would say it isn't essential to have read the first book, but I feel you would have a better understanding of the back history if you read the books in order. Noah enjoyed being pushed in his pram, as long as Louisa kept it moving. If she could spend every hour of each day treading the pavements of Little Penchurch, he’d be a quiet baby. Tiff only lived a few minutes from her house, so rather than take the direct route, she went the long way around, circumnavigating the village in the hope Noah may stay asleep once she stopped at her destination. It was unlikely, but nevertheless she had to try something – and she was determined that nothing would stop her seeing Tiff this morning.
Tiff’s house was stunning, like her. It was detached – which again, some would say was one of her traits – standing in its own grounds set back from the road. Inside it was modern, spotless – like a show home. No husband or children to mess it up. Louisa opened the heavy wooden gate, manoeuvred Noah’s pram through and closed it behind her before walking down the side of the house to the back entrance. It was easier to get the pram through the patio doors at the rear. She hadn’t called ahead, so she hoped Tiff hadn’t left yet – she couldn’t remember if it was her yoga day. Description How far would you go to save the ones you love? The first book in a gripping new crime series featuring DCI Anna Tate. When nine children are snatched from a nursery school in South London, their distressed parents have no idea if they will ever see them again. The community in the surrounding area is in shock. How could this happen right under their noses? No one in the quiet suburban street saw anything – or at least that's what they're saying. But DCI Anna Tate knows that nothing is impossible, and she also knows that time is quickly running out. It’s unclear if the kidnappers are desperate for money or set on revenge, but the ransom is going up by £1million daily. And they know that one little boy in particular is fighting for his life. It’s one of the most disturbing cases DCI Anna Tate has ever worked on – not only because nine children are being held hostage, but because she’s pretty sure that someone close to them is lying… The first book in a gripping new crime series, perfect for fans of Angela Marsons’ Detective Kim Stone Series and LJ Ross’ DCI Ryan Mystery series. I have had this book a while on my kindle and been meaning to get round to reading it. When I realised the next book, AT YOUR DOOR was soon to be released I decided to get stuck in and make a start of this one. It was a good, interesting yet easy read. A difficult subject matter with it being about kidnapping. As a parent something like this would be one of your worst nightmares. This books makes you think about how you would cope should it have been you. It's a scary thought. DC Anna Tate is investigating a when 9 children have been kidnapped from a nursery. With something like this, everyone becomes a suspect. Parents are on the edge, tempers are flaring. This story moves along brilliant and really did grab my attention from the opening pages. There was at times some parts that I found myself getting emotional, this story is one that you feel you are involved with. I like the character of Anna Tate and I look forward to reading more in this series. The first book in a gripping new crime series, perfect for fans of Angela Marsons’ Detective Kim Stone Series and LJ Ross’ DCI Ryan Mystery series. I have previously read some of this authors other works and really enjoyed them. when I started this book that I didn't realise this author writes under another name also, I'm glad I hadn't realised as I feel I would have probably been comparing them.
