What an interesting read this turned out to be.
I really don't know what I was expecting from this book, it feels so different from the last book I read by Mr Edwards, but just as darn good. This is one of those books that really does make you think, it tests your beliefs, and leaves you thinking about it long after you have finished reading it. Don't read this book late at night, lol. For 4 years Jessica has known her sisters death was a terrible accident. Jessica was very close to her beloved sister and misses her terribly. Although Jessica has believed it was an accident, her mother certainly hasn't believed it. Her mother has always believed there was a lot more to her death. When Jessica's young daughter starts talking about her dead aunt, Jessica starts to think, how can her young daughter know things from Isabel's past? It really creeps Jessica out, there is no way her young daughter should or can know the things she knows. Jessica really does start to think that, just maybe there was more to Isabel's death than she first thought. Is Isabel trying to talk to Jessica through her daughter? Creepy, spooky it's everything you want from a great read. This book really does make you think about the afterlife, Ghosts, do they really exist? If you are a believer or not, this book really gives you something to think about. It's the ability to get you thinking about such things that adds to this book being creepy, the fact it makes you think so much. I don't know any words that is going to do this book the justice it deserves. A first class thrilling read. I can highly recommend this book. It would be a great book for a book club as there are so many things you sit and discuss about the book, it would be a great conversation starter.

4.5*
What a great read this was. I found right from the opening pages I was reading in anticipation of something happening. What a spooky little read this was, I really did think something was going to jump out of my kindle at some point. This is easily one of those books that once you start, you know you are rarely going to be putting it down until it's finished. I managed to read the first 60% of the book while I was being a good girl and resting. Unfortunately the school decides it has to close and i'm expected to go collect my child, or i'd probably have gotten it finished that afternoon. It really does become difficult to put down. I felt it was quite a different read for me, but different not in a bad way. I liked the characters in this book I thought they all went well together to help build the story. I especially liked Lucas, he seemed a determined character once he got something in his head, he had to act on it. The plot was brilliantly done, Lucas has gone to a writing retreat. A beautiful relaxing getaway at this retreat in Wales. It is to help him focus and concentrate on writing his latest book. Nyth Bran seems like the perfect place for this. Only the perfect place to relax is certainly not what it turns out to be. The Retreat is run by Julia, who is widowed after her husband dies 2 years ago, her daughter also went missing at the same time. Convince she is still alive Julia clutches at anything that will get her answers. Lucas becomes very distracted while at the Retreat, and is interested in the tale of how Julia's daughter went missing. There seem to be some odd goings on at the Retreat and it's not the quiet chilled out place he was expecting. Things are happening in this old house, and no one seems to have any answers as to why. What a fantastic edge of your seat, hold your breath read this was. I found at times I really was holding my breath, it gets creepy in parts and as I said earlier i really did think something might just jump out at me. It's not a super scary book, so please don't let me put you off reading it. It has a great story line with a slightly spooky element. Well worth reading. The Blissfully Dead (A Detective Lennon Thriller Book 2) Publication Date: 29 Sept. 2015 She couldn’t believe that he wanted to meet her. He was famous. She was a nobody. Finally, someone could see how special she was… When the body of a teenage girl is found in a London hotel, DI Patrick Lennon is mystified. Nobody saw her or her killer enter the hotel, and there is no apparent motive—until a second teenager is found and Lennon realises somebody is targeting fans of the world’s biggest boy band. As Lennon struggles with both his home life and his rivals on the force, the pressure to catch the killer before he strikes again reaches fever pitch. And when Lennon makes a terrible mistake that ends in disaster, he finds himself in a race to save not only the lives of more teenage girls but also his own career. My Thoughts Well this is the second book I have read from this writing Duo, and the 2nd book to feature DI Patrick Lennon. A character who I got to like in the first book I read. From The Cradle . This was another brilliantly written book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I really want more to read from this series and I want it NOW. I can't wait for the next book. I do believe you could read this book as a stand a lone, but if you are like me, you will want to read the first book first, as although book 2 does give you character backgrounds, you get a better feel and sense of the characters having read the first book first. So Di Lennon is off again with another case. This time trying to figure out who has murdered a young girl. her body found in a hotel and no apparent motive, when a second girl is found the link becomes a little clearer. the pace of this book was spot on, it kept me wanting to read on, to know what was happening next, and who was responsible, I found myself picking up this book at every opportunity. I look forward to reading more from these authors.

My thoughts.
New authors for me, So I never know what to expect when starting. I'd started one or two books that I couldn't get into. you know that horrible *I really don't know what to read* time. Well by the end of the first Chapter I had had a eye's bulging out my head and a holding my breath moment. Now to me, that is a good start. Then I start to think, well if it sets off so good, can it carry on just as good. And luckily.... yes it did.... And some.......... Children are going missing. The first child was taken from her house. The second from his mother's car. The third from her own bedroom... And it is down to Detective Inspector Patrick Lennon, to try to solve the case. To figure out what is going on and why. Not an easy case, and with demons of his own to overcome, it's going to be a very difficult time for this officer. This is Lennon's most High profile case to date, so obviously he is feeling the pressure. This book really does make you keep nipping into your little one's bedroom to check that she is ok and sleeping well. A brilliantly put together and well written book, and although the story line was about young children going missing, it was a brilliant read. Believable characters also help with the story. I found myself picking up my kindle at every opportunity, just so I could read a little bit more. And it didn't take me long to fly through this book. Every time I thought I had figured it out, it completely changed, Every chapter ended needing you to carry on and read the next one. This book had more twists that a super twister. Absolutely fantastic. I don't know how else to describe it. It was bloody brilliant. I am now looking forward to starting the next book. |
