Anna Smith is a truly awesome writer, I have read and enjoyed each and every one of her book over the years, this is another first class read. Trapped is the 4th book to feature Kerry Casey.
What a joyride I was taken on throughout this book, If you like a gritty gangland, fast paced, thrilling book then this is for you. This book, along with Anna's other books deserve way more than the 5 stars given, this book i would have no problems recommending to anyone who enjoys a gangland style read. When Kerry and her uncle Danny are framed, set up for murder, she is left feeling hopeless in prison, wondering what has happened to her lover Vinny. Its down to the Casey's crew' to not only find out what has happened to Vinny while he's been working undercover in Spain, but to also find out the who and why's from the set up that landed Kerry and Danny in prison. There is so much going on in this book that keeps you turning those pages, you really do end up hooked. I can't say too much without giving anything away, but what I will say if you are a fan of this author you really need to be reading this book, one of the best yet.

They came for her family. Now she's coming for them. This nail-biting thriller introduces Glasgow's newest gangland mistress, Kerry Casey - a gripping read perfect for fans of Martina Cole and Kimberley Chambers.
Kerry Casey thought she'd made a life away from the dirty dealings of her gangster family. Her father wanted to make them legit - her brother Mickey had other ideas, and now it's got him killed. When Mickey's funeral turns into a bloodbath at the hands of a group of anonymous shooters and Kerry's mother is killed in the crossfire, Kerry finds herself at the head of the Casey family, and desperate for revenge. Running a crime empire is not a job she ever asked for, and not one she wants, but Kerry is determined to fulfil her father's wishes and make the Caseys go straight. First, though, she will find the men who murdered her mother, and she will take them down, no matter what it takes.
I really couldn't wait to get started with this book. I have read and loved all of Anna Smiths books. Loved everyone of them.
A sperb writing style that really does grab you into those pages, and keeps you wanting more right up to the end. We are introduced to some great characters in this book. A mix of characters you'll either love or hate. I have to admit I was a little sceptical when I realised this wasn't going to be a 'Rosie Gilmore book' I love the Gilmore series, and knowing this was something new had me nervous and exited. Anna's style of writing is first class. Kerry Casey is now the head of the Casey Empire. From Lawyer to criminal in the blink of an eye. When everything goes tits up at Mickey Casey's (her brother) wake, Kerry's life is changed forever. We have a whole mixture of criminal characters come together in this superbly written story. Anna Smith certainly has this genre nailed. She is one of the best authors about. Nothing I can say about this book is going to do it the justice it so deserves. This is certainly a must read and has made it to my must read books of 2018. The really good news is that there is going to be a Blood Feud 2. It's available now for pre order.
Rosie Gilmour is hot on the trail of a ring of baby-sellers and people-traffickers. The problem is, her main suspect is a dead man. Or is he?
A money-laundering accountant disappears in Romania. The hitman hired to disappear him is found dead in a Glasgow flat. And the owner of the flat, the accountant's widow, claims she knows nothing about it. Crime reporter Rosie Gilmour isn't convinced by Helen Lewis's innocent facade - she is convinced Helen was the one who ordered the hit on her husband, and she's going to prove it. But when she discovers that Helen's husband worked for a ring of gangsters selling babies from Romanian orphanages, her focus shifts. Now she has two sets of criminals to bring to justice - she'd better pray they don't catch up with her first. A nail-biting thriller for fans of Kimberley Chambers, Dreda Say Mitchell and Jessie Keane
I have now caught up with this series of books, after recently doing a Rosie Binge.
I'm worried of repeating myself, but I really do like this series, I have enjoyed each and everyone. I will say (again) that these books really would be best enjoyed if read in order. I love Anna's style of writing, she has a gift of dragging you into the story. Rosie now feels like a friend, albeit a fictional one. Have I just said that. I thought I'd stopped having imaginary friends years ago. This story is no different to any other for Rosie, It's her story and she's going to get it and publish it at all costs. Often it does cost Rosie dearly, but that's what makes her such a likeable character. Another brilliant, and interesting read from a very talented author. Death Trap: Rosie Gilmour 8 |
Rosie Gilmore Book 6 |
I recently finished book 5 so it was great going on another journey with Rosie so soon. She's one hell of a character and certainly manages to find trouble. I think she's a bit of a trouble magnet. Anything to get that juicy story, then Rosie will do it.
We kick off this story with a young Pakistani bride committing suicide and a death in a hotel that a prostitute needs a friends help to get away. This was early on in the book - how it all comes together then is superbly done. A truly nail-biting ride.
Anna Smith certainly knows how to write a damn good book and I'm hoping this series goes on for a long time yet.
For me personally I would say these books are best read in order. But that is just my personal opinion.

Crime reporter Rosie Gilmour returns from hiding in Bosnia to a story of a brutal execution. University lecturer Tom Mahoney was shot at point blank range, the killing has all the signs of a hit. But who would want to kill a retired lecturer?
Rosie throws herself into the investigation, looking for a witness that has gone missing. A witness that might hold the key to the story. But she has her own reasons to stay hidden.
As Rosie digs deeper, she finds the story has connections to the Ministry of Defence and MI6 and Mahoney's past is darker than anyone could imagine.
Rosie's running out of time to find out the truth, before Mahoney's killers silence her for good
Journalist Rosie has a super knack of getting into trouble, sometimes it just seems to find her.
But one thing Rosie can certainly do is, get her story. And it seems she will go to any lengths to do that.
When a university lecturer is shot at close range, this gives Rosie a new story to get her teeth into and she certainly does that.
It's great to see Rosie's pal Adrian turn up again, I'm thinking it's about time he became a more permanent fixture in Rosie's life, not just there when she's in trouble.
Another great read by a very talented author and I can't wait to dive into the next one.

Crime reporter Rosie Gilmour is back at The Post, bruised and battered from her last investigation but determined to find missing barmaid Wendy Graham.
Convinced that Wendy is the key to an explosive new story, Rosie's search leads her deep into the dangerous world of Glasgow's Ulster Volunteer Force.
This time, Rosie will find herself at the mercy of the most vicious gangsters she's ever encountered.
Has she met her match?
5/5
But I'm slowly getting there with catching up.
By god you can't help but like Rosie. She's one tough cookie. When she get's her nose into a story, there really is no stopping her. It doesn't always go in her favour chasing her next big scoop.
She really does make for a great character and one you want to keep learning about.
Links to Glasgow's UVF sees Rosie following up leads and again leaving the country in search of answers and a bigger story.
It's good to see familiar faces (so to speak) making appearances in the book. And I just love Adrian. I feel like I'm now really getting to know the characters and the more I read of these books the more I love them.
And what is really exciting, although I had fallen behind with the series, I now have 4 more books I can get stuck into without having to wait.
Anna Smith certainly knows how to write one hell of a gripping book.

Crime reporter Rosie Gilmour has learned to be tough. The places she's been and the stories she's covered, she's had to be.
Her experience stands her in good stead for a grisly new investigation: the body of a refugee in a Glasgow canal, missing limbs and vital organs.
He's not the first person to go missing - are there vigilantes at work or is there something far more sinister going on? It's up to Rosie to find out - but will what she discovers leave her with murder on her hands?
Just how the Hell did I end up so far behind on this series of books. On the plus side though I now have all the others to read.
An easy 5* read for me.
For this story Rosie Gilmore #SuperJourno is investigating a missing refugee, after speaking with his friend Rosie thinks something isn't quite right and offers to see what she can find out. In typical Rosie style, every time she finds something out, she manages to get her self deeper into a story and deeper into trouble. It soon becomes clear to Rosie that there is a lot more going on and there is a reason these refugees are going missing.
Is there anything this woman wont do for a story? Rosie really does have a knack of getting herself into the thick of it and trouble just seems to follow her. She's certainly a woman on a mission, a bit like a dog with a bone. One sniff of a juicy story and she's all over it.
I have really enjoyed getting to know Rosie, and we see a little more of her home life/love life in this book. It's going to be interesting to see what happens to Rosie in future books, and I really cant wait to get stuck into the rest of them.
Anna Smith has certainly outdone herself in this book, A first class Page Turner.
Three-year-old Amy is snatched off the beach whilst her mother is otherwise engaged.
Rosie Gilomor is on holiday recovering after she nearly got killed 6 months ago, when her editor Mick Mcguire in Glasgow phones her, although she is not longer a hack, she is now the assistant editor in charge of investigations. He has her driving to Marbella to cover the story, as she's the only one he can trust to cover it.
And off Rosie goes on a new Journey and new story.......................
With different accounts of what happened on the beach and who was where its only a matter of time before the truth comes out.
Some very likeable and some very disturbing characters, its great how this book just blends and brings everything together.
Not for the faint hearted, but it is a very good read.
Didn't think it was possible but I enjoyed Anna's second book in the Rosie Gilmour series even more than the first.
I had pre ordered Anna's 4th book when i suddenly realised i still hadn't read book 2 and 3, which is a good thing as i dont have to wait for ever to start the next one now...
A three-year-old girl is snatched from a Spanish beach while on holiday with her parents. Nobody heard a sound. Nobody saw a thing. Or so they claim. Rosie Gilmour is enjoying a well-deserved holiday on the Costa del Sol: one that is cut short when the abduction story breaks and she's sent to cover it. Rosie's instincts tell her something's wrong. Such a crime, committed in broad daylight, must surely have its witnesses? The girl's mother's story, what's more, doesn't add up. When Rosie is approached by an illegal sex worker with information about the abduction, her instincts are confirmed. Key information about the crime is being withheld from the authorities. The reason: corrupt politicians and vicious human trafficking gangs - enemies one would think twice about making. But thinking twice is not in Rosie's DNA, especially when a child's life is at stake. As she closes in on the truth, Rosie realises the penalty for missing this particular deadline could be her own death
