Wowzers, what a read. what a book, what an ending! I need more and I need it NOW.
Anna Davis 1. Runaway Girl (2018) 2. Dangerous Girl (2018) 3. Boss Girl (2019) 4. Fierce Girl (2019) 5. Reckless Girl (2019) Reckless is book 5 in what has so far been a first class amazing series. I really couldn't see how each book i've read could be beaten yet each time a new one come out it smashes all expectations. This author certain knows how to pull in her readers and deliver just what they want. It's full to the brim of tension, action, nail biting, edge of your seat action. you are dragged along at a break neck speed wanting and needing more. A serious book that is unputdownable. I absolutely loved it. I have read each and every one of theses books and can say they are best read in order, you will get a better understanding of the characters and the parts they play. If you haven't read any of them yet then boy, oh boy you are in for one hell of a treat. But that ENDING. Sorry that was cruel, it means I have to wait and countdown to the next book. What a cliffhanger. I so can't wait to find out what happens. Anna and Freddie have a great relationship and just as soon as you think things are getting good for them, something always happens. The is an almighty bomb dropped on them that they will no doubt struggle to fight through together. Being part of the underworld is always going to have it's issues and rivalry, but Freddie seems to be faced with just to much this time, can he work through issues and regain the power he has. I love the main charcter in these books, the bond between them makes the strorylines and relationships so much more believeeable, I feel I actually know most of them personally. I think when you develop fictional feeling then the author has done a superb job whriting about them and making you part of their lives as you read about them. First class, I really don' know what more I could say. I don't have the words to explain how good this read really was and suggest you try to prove me wrong by buying it and reading it. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it. Leave comments below and let me know what you thought. First class and then some. so deserves more than the given 5 stars.

She said she’d gone to a sleepover. But she never made it. Someone must know why…
She said she’d gone to a sleepover. But she never made it. Someone must know why…
When Detective Natalie Ward is called to the home of fourteen-year-old Roxy Curtis she can’t help but empathise with Roxy’s distraught mother Cathy. Roxy hasn’t come home, last seen heading next door for a sleepover with her best friend Ellie. As the mother of two teenagers herself, Natalie knows that this is every parent’s worst nightmare. But when Roxy’s body is found in the basement of a beautiful Victorian mansion on the other side of town, Natalie’s darkest fears are confirmed. What was Roxy doing there? The people who knew her best should know – but Cathy seems evasive, and Ellie refuses to talk. Natalie is determined to find out what secrets they are keeping… Then Roxy’s mother Cathy disappears. When her body is found two days later, Natalie is forced to face the fact that Roxy’s loved ones are in real danger. Things take a more sinister turn when Ellie vanishes, her mobile phone switched off. Is Ellie hiding something about the night Roxy died that could put her in terrible danger? And can Natalie work it out before another innocent life is taken? Gripping, fast-paced and nail-bitingly tense, this book will keep you flying through the pages long into the night. Perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Rachel Abbott and Karin Slaughter.
I can't believe we are at book 4 in this epic series. This is a series I've really enjoyed reading. Working for Staffordshire Police Detective Natalie Ward and her team are called to a missing girls home. Roxy was alleged having a sleepover at a friends house, it appears now that the sleepover never happened, and Roxy is missing.
It soon becomes clear that the body of Roxy is found in a home a few miles away. What was Roxy doing there, why had she lied about where she was going? It's down to the team to investigate, but this isn't going to be an easy straight forward investigation. This really is a series I've loved following Carol Wyer can certainly write a book that has you gripped from the early pages. Her books drag you in and keep you reading. I loved the twists and the turns that this book gave us. This is certainly another 5 star read and I have no problems in recommending not only this book but the whole series. Personally I would advise that you read this series in order. That is just my personal point of view as it could be read alone. I think you get more enjoyment of knowing the back history of the characters when you read a series from the beginning and with Natalie's personal life featuring a lot I think it helps have a better understanding of the person.
A case with no leads.
A victim with no enemies. A killer with no conscience… When Detective Beth Young is called to investigate a victim with multiple broken bones, nothing prepares her for what she finds. James Sinclair is fighting for his life, and Beth can’t shake the idea that the nature of his injuries suggest someone with a personal grudge against him. But James’s devastated wife Laura insists that her kind, softly-spoken husband is a man with no enemies. She was the one with the fiery temper, but James was so calm, she’d never once managed to provoke even a cross word from him in their eight year marriage. And he was the same with everyone – she can’t name one person who might want to hurt him. But she knows virtually no details about her husband’s childhood or his life before he moved to the Lake District as a young man, and Beth feels sure that the key to finding James’s attacker is hidden in the secrets of his past. Who was he really? And what is the significance of the coded messages that Beth finds hidden on his laptop? Then two more bodies are found in one of the deep, picturesque lakes that the area is so famous for, exhibiting similar injuries to the ones James Sinclair suffered. How are they connected? And how many more people are at risk? Beth knows she is in a race against time to hunt a vicious killer who is both elusive and incredibly dangerous. A killer who knows what James did in the past. Who likes to be one step ahead. But who – if they realise they’re being hunted – might come for Beth next…
I just knew as soon as I started this book that I wasn't going to be disappointed. Mr Smith certainly knows how to write a book that will drag you in at page one and spit you back out at the end, leaving you wanting more. I'm loving this series.
When DC Beth Young is given a new case to investigate it's all systems go. Found at home by his wife, James Sinclair is on the edge of life, an attack that was so vicious , so nasty that Beth know whoever has done this needs to be caught and caught soon. It seems James had no enemies and got on with everyone. But it's clear to Beth that this can’t be the case or this man wouldn't have just been found looking like he'd been hit with a speeding train. Beth and her investigating team are soon put to the test when two more bodies are found. It's time to look into things more and start examining who could be responsible for these crimes. There has to be some connection somewhere, it's time to did in to their pasts and see what answers are thrown up. I'm loving the character of Beth, and it's good to see she getting on with her private life and not all work. Beth is a great character that over the last few books I really feel we have gotten to know her. She has demons that she wants answers to and it seems in this outing she is going to find the answers she needs. This was a fast read and I seemed so engrossed I devoured it in no time at all. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I have no problems recommending this book at all. As with all of this authors books once you start them it's difficult to put them down. I look forward to reading more of this series and believe it's just getting better and better. Personally I would advise that you read these books in order as you get the feel for the characters a whole lot better. It could be read as a standalone but for the best of the characters then knowing their back stories is best.
Finally we’re playing a game. A game that I have chosen. I give one last push of the roundabout and stand back. 'You really should have played with me,’ I tell her again although I know she can no longer hear.
Late one summer evening, Detective Kim Stone arrives at Haden Hill Park to the scene of a horrific crime: a woman in her sixties tied to a swing with barbed wire and an X carved into the back of her neck. The victim, Belinda Evans, was a retired college Professor of Child Psychology. As Kim and her team search her home, they find an overnight bag packed and begin to unravel a complex relationship between Belinda and her sister Veronica. Then two more bodies are found bearing the same distinctive markings, and Kim knows she is on the hunt for a ritualistic serial killer. Linking the victims, Kim discovers they were involved in annual tournaments for gifted children and were on their way to the next event. With DS Penn immersed in the murder case of a young man, Kim and her team are already stretched and up against one of the most ruthless killer’s they’ve ever encountered. The clues lie in investigating every child who attended the tournaments, dating back decades. Faced with hundreds of potential leads and a bereaved sister who is refusing to talk, can Kim get inside the mind of a killer and stop another murder before it’s too late? The addictive new crime thriller from multi-million copy, number one bestseller Angela Marsons explores the dark side of child prodigies and will have you absolutely hooked.
Well, well, well,… I think I'm running out of things to say about this series without repeating myself, but when a series is this good it just needs shouting about, so I don't care if I repeat myself. I said, I don't care if I repeat myself.
Book 11 and this series just gets better and better. It's difficult to keep a series fresh and enjoyable but Angie Marsons certainly manages it. A feeling of being back with friends is what you get when opening a book from this series and as always real life needs to go on hold while you start the book. It's not far in and you know you are going to just love the book. Kim Stone has taken some time to get to know, and I feel she is a character that needs no explanation for fans of the series. This book certainly grips you with it's opening. What a way to start! This book like others has a whole host of characters, some you'll love, some you won't. What I did like in this book what the introduction to a new team member, which I think was received into the team a lot better than the last new member. Penn is off back to his old team, but don't worry it's only while there is a court case he is involved with. I think this also helped split the story and give us more of an insight into Penn the person. Kim and the rest of her team are investigating a very brutal murder, just where the author get's her idea's from, I don't know, I'm just glad she has them. A woman is found in rather grim circumstances and it's down to Kim and her to team to try and get to bottom of what has happened. It all happens in true 'Stone fashion which is what makes these books so damn enjoyable. Another great addition to the series, book 11 will like the previous 10 have you gripped from the opening pages and spit you out breathless at the very end. Bravo Angie Marsons you've done it again.
Description
Can she follow her dreams – against all the odds? Liverpool, 1955. With her abusive husband drinking all her wages, Alice faces a daily struggle to provide for her family. Her eldest daughter Cathy has always longed to be a nurse, but when the family’s poverty means she’s forced to leave school and get a job – without the qualifications she needs – it looks like her dreams are over. But Cathy isn’t willing to give up without a fight, and with the support of old friend – and new love – Gianni, she manages to secure a place as a cadet nurse, learning as she works. Cathy knows that without her around, her mam must stand up to her violent husband alone – and that with less money coming in, Alice will be in danger of losing everything. What’s more, since nursing students must be unmarried, and Gianni is desperate to settle down, it’s not just her mam who hopes that Cathy will come home… Can Cathy find a way to have it all, or will becoming a nurse mean leaving her family – and love – behind her? The Nurses of Lark Lane is a heart-breaking saga about a family’s battle to survive. If you love Nadine Dorries, Diney Costeloe and Donna Douglas, you won’t want to miss Pam Howes! An earlier version of this book was previously published as Cathy’s Clown. This edition contains significant editorial revisions. My Thoughts I am so glad I got into reading this series. What an emotional rollercoaster these characters have been on, and I've been there with each and every up or down. Pam has created an amazing set of characters, characters that you can really relate to, characters that I really feel like I actually know, and at times I've wanted to reach into the pages and give out cuddles, advice or a slap or two. If a book can make you feel so many emotions, then it shows what an amazing job the author has done in engaging you with the story. It was fantastic being back in the world of the Lark Lane Crew. We focus more this time around on Cathy and her life. Cathy has grown into an amazing young lady. Training to become a nurse has been a dream for Cathy, but circumstances at home mean getting a job is the only thing really that Cathy can do to help support her mother and younger sisters. Her Step father Jack is nothing but a horrible drunk and Cathy hates that she is working to support his drinking. The author does an amazing job taking you back in time. I can not recommend this book or this series highly enough. I have loved each and every one. If you are going to read this one may I just say that a pack of tissues would be advisable. The emotions you go through are crazy. Loved it. a first class read, taken back in time with fantastic characters. Written beautifully.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Pam Howes was born in Cheshire. She is an ex Interior Designer who began writing seriously in the mid nineties. The idea for her first novel, set in the sixties, was inspired by her time as a teenager, working in a local record store and hanging around with musicians who frequented the business. That first novel evolved into a series set in the fictional town of Pickford, based on her home town of Stockport. Three Steps to Heaven; 'Til I Kissed You; Always On My Mind; Not Fade Away, and That'll Be The Day, follow the lives and loves through the decades of fictional Rock'n'Roll band The Raiders. Pam is a big fan of sixties music and it's this love that compelled her to write the series. A stand-alone true-life romance, Fast Movin' Train, set in the nineties, was published in early 2012. Pam is mum to three adult daughters, grandma to seven assorted grandchildren, and roadie to one musician partner. Pam recently signed a second contract with the award winning publisher Bookouture and the first novel in her new Lark Lane series, The Factory Girls of Lark Lane, will be published in July 2018. What did I think?
Book 4 to feature Anna Davis. What another brilliant read. Emma Tallon has really set the bar high with these books. I have loved each and every one of them. From the opening page I was captured back into the world of Anna, Tanya and Freddie and what a world it is. If you haven't read the last book yet then you may want to stop reading now. Tanya is still in hospital from the results of the ending of the last book. Recovery is slow but Anna is still there for her, still willing everything to be good, even though Anna is going through her own hell. When Tanya's long lost mother turns up, Anna is very suspicious of her. Does she have a right to be or has Rosie finally turned a corner and come o make amends with her daughter. Trying to keep club Anya afloat, dealing with so many demons is Anna taking on to much. Freddie is still by her side but knows his Anna is no this woman walking around and just functioning. He'll do all he can to help Anna and get his Anna back to him. We do get to see a little more of Tanya's background in this book. I found it great getting to know her a little more, I feel I know these characters that bit more with each of the books I've read. Tanya's background was interesting and really added to the story and helped understand her character that bit more. A fantastic addition to this series, another book that will have you up all night needing and wanting to read it. I just can't fault this series at all, it has everything you want from a gangland thriller. Drugs, Prostitution, betrayal, mafia, gangs, deception, family, loyalty. oh boy I could go on. Did I say this was an epic read? At times you want to think you know which way the book is going to go, you don't so don't bother brilliant turns in this book help keep you gripped from start to end, then when you reach the end you give a big shout out of NOOOO, all the time reading the book you want to get to the end, when you get there then the end had come to soon, you want the book to go on, and on... I think another 300 pages just wouldn't have been enough. Addictive Read. Fans of Kimberley chambers, Jessie Keane, Mandasue Heller, Casey Kelleher will love these books, I can't recommend them highly enough.

Jane’s daughter is a good girl. What is she hiding?
When thirteen-year-old Savannah Hopkins doesn’t come straight home from school, as she always does, her mother Jane immediately raises the alarm. Leading the investigation is Detective Natalie Ward whose daughter Leigh is the same age as Savannah. Soon Natalie’s worst fears are confirmed when the teenager’s broken body is found in nearby shrubland. Evidence points towards a local recluse, but just as the net is closing around him, one of Savannah’s friends, Harriet, is reported missing. As Natalie delves into the lives of both girls, she soon discovers a sinister video on their phones, daring the girls to disappear from their families for 48 hours. But Natalie isn’t quick enough for this killer, and she is devastated to find Harriet’s body on a fly tip a day later. Caught up in the case, she takes her eye off her own daughter and when Leigh goes missing after school she knows she must be in terrible danger. The clock is ticking for Natalie. Can she catch this killer before her little girl becomes the next victim?
Book 3 in the Detective Natalie Ward series. A gripping read you won't want to put down, but you won't want it to end either. What can I say? I am loving, loving, loving, this series. The author again has beat all expectations and created another fantastic addition to the series.
Natalie is again struggling juggling her home life and her work life, taking her eye off either could cause explosions. But I have to say I wish Natalie and her husband would sort out their issues. lol Natalie's life is about to get a whole lot tougher. Natalie and her team are brought in to investigate a missing teen . Her body is found a day later having been murdered. It's then, another teen goes missing. It's going to be a race against the clock. On investigation it appears that these girls have been using a website to carry out dares. Is this the only link to the girls? It's down the Natalie and her wonderful team to get stuck in and do what they do best- Solve cases. The team work so well together the characters are likeable and realistic. They throw themselves in to the case and work brilliantly as a team. This is a very cleverly put together story, it felt fresh and with the use of the internet for everything in a teenagers life, it added to the realness of the story. Bravo Carol, another first class read. I'm really liking Natalie's character but would also like a return of Robyn at some stage.

Description:
The woman’s limbs were so thin; the skin on her arms as translucent as tracing paper. Around her neck lay a faint string of purple bruises. In one so frail, darker, angrier marks might be expected but Beth knew the bruising would have stopped the moment her heart stopped beating. When a walker finds the body of a woman by the shores of Lake Ullswater, the police are put on high alert. Felicia Evans was known to be a tough character, but who would have strangled her? Detective Beth Young quickly spots the links to three cold cases. Three women strangled and discarded in the stunning, wild hills of the Lake District. As Beth begins tracking down witnesses, the team receives an anonymous letter claiming the charming mayor of Carlisle is behind the murders. There’s pressure from the top to clear his name. But Beth is determined to find the truth no matter whose feathers she ruffles in the process. Beth knows the clock is ticking. The killer is hunting again. And it’s down to her to find who’s responsible before another woman becomes his prey… A gripping edge-of-your-seat thriller from bestselling author Graham Smith, perfect for fans of Joy Ellis, LJ Ross, and J.R. Ellis. Well... What can I say. Nothing I say will do this book the justice it so rightly deserves. Graham Smith is one hell of a writer. (Have I said that before?) Dragged into the pages right from the beginning before you are spat out right at the end, wanting more. I love the characters that Mr Smith has created. Not just here in the Detective Beth Young series, but also in other books i've read by this author. He has a knack for giving you what you want in damn good read. i'm waffling again. But I just love books by this author. I look forward to each and every new book coming out, and as soon as I receive a copy, I have to start it. It doesn't matter what else i'm reading at the time, that has to stop. Curl up, clear your diary and get set for one hell of a ride. Back with Detective Beth Young and still getting to know her, but liking her more each time I picked up the book. A tough story line to write, but I feel Mr Smith did it wonderfully. With some amazing twists this book keeps you hooked. Wanting and needing to know what is going to happen. Wanting to know the 'who dun it' Beth is working for the Major Incident Team in the Lake District. A dedicated individual, who likes to get on with things a bit of a tough cookie and has a wonderful mind for working things out. A true asset to the force. I can see this girl going places, and I'm hoping to be on the long journey with her. (now there is an idea Mr Smith. Maybe Beth needs a new team mate, a Vicki in her life. lol) Although it was lovely being back in the Lakes, its such a beautiful place, a beautiful background to a very disturbing case. Faced with the discovery of an elderly lady having been murdered its work caps on and case open. Beth really is work oriented, she lives and breathes the force, giving it everything she has. Thinking they had a lead on who the murderer could be seemed to come to soon, I was thinking what, no way... obviously it was no way, but a great way of getting you hooked. It really got my tiny brain working. Once the team realise what a sick individual they are looking for, some leads take them to looking back over cold cases, could this be a killer that has been out there for a long time. For me this book had it all, not for the faint hearted, but any crime thriller reader will love this. Treat yourself, you know you want to...

She ruined their lives. Now they’re going to destroy hers.
‘Someone is recreating every traumatic point in your life. They are doing this to make you suffer, to make you hurt and the only possible end game can be death. Your death.’ On the fourth floor of Chaucer House, two teenagers are found chained to a radiator. The boy is dead but the girl is alive. For Detective Kim Stone every detail of the scene mirrors her own terrifying experience with her brother Mikey, when they lived in the same tower block thirty years ago. When the bodies of a middle-aged couple are discovered in a burnt-out car, Kim can’t ignore the chilling similarity to the deaths of Erica and Keith – the only loving parents Kim had ever known. Faced with a killer who is recreating traumatic events from her past, Kim must face the brutal truth that someone wants to hurt her in the worst way possible. Desperate to stay on the case, she is forced to work with profiler Alison Lowe who has been called in to observe and monitor Kim’s behaviour. Kim has spent years catching dangerous criminals and protecting the innocent. But with a killer firmly fixed on destroying Kim, can she solve this complex case and save her own life or will she become the final victim? The heart-stopping and totally addictive new crime thriller from multi-million copy number one bestseller Angela Marsons will have you completely hooked. Just do it… One of the very best detective series around.’ Deja Read, 5 stars ‘I truly don't know what to say… Somehow Angela Marsons manages smash the brilliance of the last book and better it tenfold… A first-class read that I feel will be difficult to top... This has certainly gone onto my 2018 MUST READ list.’ ILoveReadinguk, 5 stars Thrilled to be taking part in this blog tour. Here are my thoughts.
Firstly, how have we ended up at book 10 all ready. Secondly for any Angela Marsons fans there is no need for me to go on any more, you know you want it, you know you will have pre ordered it a million years ago and we know you won't have time to be reading reviews that others have put up about the book.
For everyone one else, why are you not all ready a fan of this authors work? Seriously, Once you get into this series there will be no stopping you. This is one of my all time favorite Detective series, I absolutely love the main character Kim Stone, I still don't know what it is that makes her so unique but she is, she's feisty, ballsy, no nonsense and just wants to get on with things. It's difficult to say what I mean without repeating what I have said over and over. Kim, Bryant and Stacey still have the death of Kevin Dawson clear in their minds, he will always be missed. They seem to be getting used to newest member - DS Austin Penn, I think everything takes time and once they all finally realised he wasn't Dawson then things become easier. The team are up against it this time around, certainly Kim who is trying her best to pretend the case they have been landed with has nothing to do with her personally, it's just a coincidence that some of the details resemble something in her past. But who the hell is she trying to kid? because if it's herself she's failing miserably. When Kim realises that she is going to have to share some of her past with others it's a moment of weakness to her, It's something she has kept hidden from most for a long. long time and feeling she has to share her private thoughts is hard going. This case has got personal. I know nearly everything i've said is just repeating myself from previous books, but honestly Angie Marsons must have decided long ago to hold back and throw some of the best of Kim Stone for these later books. This series of books is phenomenal, and just get better each time. It's a wonder the readers are still here to review with the amount of times you hold your breath while reading. Total page turner. Clear your diary, have a few days off and curl up with this bad boy. This is a quote from the review of Book 9 in the series, I think all i need to say this time is 'it will hit the 2019 MUST READ LIST', my feelings are just the same. ‘I truly don't know what to say… Somehow Angela Marsons manages smash the brilliantness of the last book and better it tenfold… A first-class read that I feel will be difficult to top... This has certainly gone onto my 2018 MUST READ list.’

When Grace herself disappears, Simone becomes embroiled in a desperate search for her baby and the woman who has vital clues about her whereabouts. Simone is inching closer to the truth but it’ll take her into dangerous and disturbing territory. Simone lost her baby. Will she lose her life trying to find her?
Well having a few days needing complete rest has really helped me get through a few books, I decided at the start of the year I would get through some of the older books I have outstanding that need reading. So here I am, this time around I have chosen The Girl You Lost by Kathryn Croft.
What did I think. This is one of those books that has characters that are real and feel almost like you know them. It's a Psychological thriller with twists galore. You really do get dragged into the story of this book. How do you cope with life when your child is snatched. How do you move on from something as heart wrenching as that. 18 years later Simone is confronted by a young lady who believes she is her daughter. A lot of questions need answering but when Grace the young lady who confronted Simone, believing to be her daughter disappears again, there are even more questions to be answered. Simone is then on a mission to find the truth. A race to find the answers needed could cause a whole heap of trouble and danger. As the truth becomes closer you really find yourself wanting answers, for a good outcome, for things to be solved and work out. Very cleverly put together and makes interesting reading. |
