The dead don’t tell secrets… unless you listen.
The girl’s smashed-in face stared unseeing up to the blue sky, soil spilling out of her mouth. A hundred flies hovered above the bloodied mess. Westerley research facility is not for the faint-hearted. A ‘body farm’ investigating human decomposition, its inhabitants are corpses in various states of decay. But when Detective Kim Stone and her team discover the fresh body of a young woman, it seems a killer has discovered the perfect cover to bury their crime. Then a second girl is attacked and left for dead, her body drugged and mouth filled with soil. It’s clear to Stone and the team that a serial killer is at work – but just how many bodies will they uncover? And who is next? As local reporter, Tracy Frost, disappears, the stakes are raised. The past seems to hold the key to the killer’s secrets – but can Kim uncover the truth before a twisted, damaged mind claims another victim …? I know I know I said it with the last two books, but I really didn't think this series could get any better, when Boommmmmmmm Angela does it again. It still amazes me how authors can come up with time and time again, new and fresh stories. This one was just absolutely fantabulous. A Brilliant read. I can't believe we are with Kim Stone again, and all ready at book 4. It really doesn't seem that long ago I was starting my first Angela Marsons book and wondering what to expect from a new author. Well all my expectations were met, and blown out the water. Angela is by far one of todays better crime writers, and that's some doing when you consider how many authors are writing crime books. But there is just something, individual, and fresh in her writing style and she has managed to create a character in Kim Stone that you just can't help but like. I love it when you get so engrossed in a book, it's like you are part of the story. If you are anything like me then I would advise that these books are read in order, but that is more just to get a feel and the background on Detective Kim Stone. If you are not to bothered about that, then you would get away with reading this as it is, but I really would say read them in order. You'll be glad you did. And just so you don't have to go searching. Here they are in order. 1 Silent Scream 2 Evil Games 3 Lost Girls 4 Play Dead Any way where was I? Oh Yeah this is certainly one hell of a read. And if it was possible to give it more than 5 stars then I certainly would. Angela Marsons is one hell of a story teller. Westerley Research facility is unknown to most people. It is a body farm, where bodies are donated for research purposes. It's out of the way and not advertised to anyone. Kim and her team are at the centre when they discover a body, only this body is nothing to do with the research. so as Kim and her team are there, and Kim has discovered it, they set to, trying to find out who she is, and how she got there. It isn't long after when a second body turns up. But who is killing them and why, and more so how do they know that Westerley would normally be a great place to dump a body, had it not been for Kim and her team finding the first one. A must must read for any crime thriller fan's. And I feel I can safely say that you will not be disappointed reading this. And I think it's safe to assume this will still be in my top ten reads of 2016 at the end of the year. I would like to send a big extra thanks to Netgalley. Bookouture and Angela Marsons for allowing me a review copy of this first class read.

Three Butlers. Two weddings. One funeral. The explosive new novel from the Sunday Times #1 bestselling author Kimberley Chambers. Nobody can hurt you like the ones you love… Blood is thicker than water, love is stronger than hate – and that’s the problem. When your brother has betrayed you, there’s no coming back. Vinny and Michael have always protected each other and provided for the family. Together they were formidable but business always stopped at the front door. Now someone has changed the rules – women and children are fair game and one of the Butlers is going to end up six feet under. Little Vinny is battling not to follow in his father’s footsteps. Sweet Sammi-Lou has just vowed ‘til death do us part, but it’s only a matter of time before the truth comes out about the murder he committed. Dark secrets are spiralling out of control and have the power to destroy them all for good. Is this the final nail in the Butler family coffin?
OH GOD.... This has to be Kimberley Chambers Best book ever. I was so so excited to receive an early review copy of this book, It certainly made me feel good, I was buzzing from the moment I opened the package, and positively fit to burst by the time I got chance to sit down and start reading it. I have waited a year for this book, since The Wronged finished I just couldn't wait for this.. But I can now reveal that IT WAS WELL WORTH THE WAIT, AND MORE...
We are back with the Butler family. One of those families you can't help but love, but glad you are not related to them. If you are reading this book or thinking of reading it, It really is best that you read the 3 books before it, as It really will help you get the right feel for what is going on, and a background history of the characters. And as I said with the last bookThe Wronged, I didn't believe Kimberley could match it, By god how this woman likes to prove you wrong. she's freakin smashed it with this book. And this book just show's why Kimberley Chambers is the favourite author of many, many people. She is certainly one of my all time favourite authors. It felt a bit like a family reunion reading this book, like I was back with people I knew well, but hadn't seen for a while. And then the teary goodbye's at the end when you know you are not going to see them for a long time. I loved every bit of this book, and I don't think my words will get across just how freaking good this series of books has been.
'Funny, sexy and glamorous' -- JOJO MOYES
The book that made Jackie Collins one of Britain's favourite authors sweeps you from the sophisticated playgrounds of Europe to the glittering gambling palaces of Las Vegas. It plunges you into the reckless, dangerous world of the Santangelo crime family. It introduces you to Gino Santangelo, the street kid who makes it all the way to the top. And it then brings you Lucky - his sensual, stunningly beautiful, and passionate daughter; a woman who dares to win her father's empire for herself; a woman unafraid of taking … Chances.
5/5
I really wasn't sure what to expect when I started this book. I haven't read any of Jackie Collins before. I think sometimes you get something in your head, and it's hard to change that thought. I actually thought of Jackie Collins books, being a bit girly, maybe romantic. How bloody wrong was I. I am so so glad I gave this book a try. A fellow blogger @bookaddictshaun is a huge Jackie Collins fan, and I think he's probably lost count of the times he's read this book. I have come to trust Shaun's Judgement on books, and often when he say's a book is good, I also really enjoy it. So I had to give it a go. I saw a giveaway on twitter for 3 Jackie Collins books, and was lucky enough to win them. So a huge thank you to @BookMinxSJV for getting me started. I will admit when the books arrived I looked up which order they were in, and realised I should probably read Chances first. This was a paperback book of 790 pages, and I was a little daunted, I kept thinking I could read 3 books in the time its going to take me to read this. But eventually I had a spare half hour so I sat down to read. I enjoyed it right from the beginning, Getting to know the characters, and there are quite a few of them, but you are introduced to them bit by bit, and it doesn't take long to start growing to like to some of them. So I ended up reading this while cooking tea, reading this on the way to the supermarket (I wasn't driving) Every chance I got I'd read just one more page, I was actually amazed at how quickly I did get through the book. It probably got read quicker than I read an average size book, as I really could not put it down. This is certainly one of the best books I've read in a while, and I read quite a lot, It was different so much from the crime books I normally read and love. There is action a plenty through out, And it's interesting to see how all the characters end up interwoven with each other. It was a brilliant read and I look forward to reading more in this series. Big 5 stars from me. |
