The Stolen Girls (Detective Lottie Parker #2) I have started book 2 pretty much as soon as I finished book 1 as I was lucky enough to grab an early copy of this book via Netgalley. So big thanks to Bookouture for allowing me the chance to read this. Well, right back into the thick of things is Lottie Parker. After having some time off work following the events of her previous case. (Book 1, so I won't put any spoilers) Lottie now has work to do, and her first case is ready for her. A woman's body has turned up when a contractor for digging the roads, discovers it on one of his digs. It's again a race for finding out the truth, and how this body got here. It's also a race before any more bodies turn up. And yes it's not long before another is found. Pressure on Lottie and her to team to find a link. I don't want to give to much away regarding the story line, and feel if I say anymore it might spoil it for readers, and we all hate spoilers, don't we? So what I will say is this is another brilliant read, intresting and keeps you wanting to read more. I think any crime fan's should give these books a go and find yourself a new series of books to read. There are so so many new authors bringing books out at the moment, it's hard sometimes to decide weather to stick with what you know or dive in and try something new, with these two books I can safely say i'm glad I dived in. I think Patricia has done a great job so far with the first two book. I love the fictional town of Ragmullin, I love the name. lol. I really do like the characters, Lottie while struggling to work and bring up 3 teenage children, seems to manage (just about) Sometimes she's just winging it and needs to maybe take a closer look at what is going on under her nose. I think there is a great balance between the characters doing their work, and the characters personal lives. I really feel I got to know Lottie and Boyd a little more in this book along with Lottie's family and I really am looking forward to more from this author.

“The truth costs nothing, but a lie can cost you everything…”
June 2007: a barbaric nail bomb is planted outside a London nightclub, a spy is found dead in his garden, and a blazing Jeep is driven into Glasgow airport. Three events bound by an earth-shattering connection that should have remained buried forever. From the author of ‘The Theseus Paradox’, the smash-hit 7/7 thriller based on true events, comes the sequel about a real-life mystery that threatens to destroy a nation. Detective Inspector Jake Flannagan must uncover how a series of astonishing events are inextricably linked, before the past closes in on him. We all have secrets we say we’ll never tell…
THE DETRIMENT: A compelling detective thriller based on true events (DI Jake Flannagan Book 2) (DETECTIVE INSPECTOR JAKE FLANNAGAN SERIES)
I feel like I have waited so long for this book. As soon as I read the first book back in Feb 2016 I have eagerly awaited this one. Knowing this was due out I have just done a reread of the first book to set me up ready for the new one. I can safely say this book was well worth waiting for. This book gets a super big 5***** from me. I need to scream and shout to all and sundry that this book needs reading. I can safely say that I don't believe anyone would be disappointed by this book. Personally though I would recommend reading The Theseus Paradox first. After some of the recent events happening around our country this book really hits home. It really makes you think just what goes into finding suspects of terrorism and piecing all the evidence together. Due to the fact that this book is so topical at the moment, my emotions were all over the place while reading this. An exceptionally well written story, where you know that the author certainly knows what he's talking about, you have to remind yourself that this book is a work of fiction, based around true events, as the author says.... 'I can’t tell you the truth, but I can tell you another story…’ I was concerned that because I had eagerly awaited this book coming out, that maybe it wouldn't be all I had expected. Well it was all I expected and more. Jake Flannagan' we met in the first book The Theseus Paradox, and getting back with him on this journey was just great. Jake is a Detective Inspector with the Counter Terrorist Department, and is soon drawn right into a new case. It then becomes apparent that maybe this case is linked to something else. Jake manages to get his trusty sidekick Lenny working with him again, and I love the way these two interacted. Jakes a real character a destructive risk taker, a bit of a, for want of a better word, a bit of a time bomb, a loose cannon. He doesn't always think things through before acting, and this is what I like about him. I think this really adds to the story, and you can't help but think if he wasn't reckless then sometimes things could actually be a lot worse. I loved every bit of this book, and once started it was hard to put down. I wanted and needed to sit reading this at every opportunity, for me it was a thoroughly enjoyable gripping read, and I would recommend this book to everyone. I can not wait to see what David comes up with next. A fantastic author.
