By Alex Kane Publisher : Hera Books (21 Mar. 2024) An easy ***** 5 star read. Well Well Well.... Alex Kane does it again. What a superb read this turned out to be. Exciting and fresh, I enjoyed this book from the get go. Brilliant characters and a twist I didn't see coming at all. What a gripping read. Thoroughly enjoyable. I read this in one day, I really couldn't put it down once started. Twins Sinead and Orla live very different lives. They are total opposites. They don't have contact with their birth mother and each have a reason not to want or to want have contact. This all changes when a family member is found in trouble. the paths of these individuals has no choice but to cross. But will this be a help or a hindrance to the families involved. I am mindful of saying too much on this story, its one of those you want to say OMG - this happened and this, but don't want to spoil it for the readers. What I will say is My goodness, I need more and more from this author, I could have read this on and on. It's left with what I can only say it a cliff-hanger and there really has to be a follow on. Amazing Writing Alex Kane, please don't leave it too long for the next one.

Her Feud: An utterly addictive, totally gripping and absolutely unputdownable crime thriller (The Drew Family Series Book 7)Fans of Martina Cole and Kimberley Chambers will love this nail-biting gangland crime thriller from bestselling author Emma Tallon. Family is everything to Lily Drew and she’s always battled to keep hers together. But following the death of her only daughter, Ruby, and after losing her son, Connor, to a rival firm, Lily feels like everything she’s fought so hard to protect is about to fall apart: and when a turf war between two rival gangs starts on the Drew’s doorstep, Lily must pick a side… The right choice could take the firm to a whole new level and bring her beloved son back into the fold. But get it wrong and her empire could come crashing down, and all of their lives could be in danger. But the job goes wrong, and when one of London’s most dangerous crime bosses comes after the family, hellbent on revenge, Lily’s heart pounds. Did she just put everyone she loves in danger? And when the bitter feud ends, what will be left of the Drews? 7 books in this series. Each and every one a first class read.Drew family ✔︎ 1. Her Revenge (2021) ✔︎ 2. Her Rival (2021) ✔︎ 3. Her Betrayal (2022) ✔︎ 4. Her Payback (2022) ✔︎ 5. Her Fight (2022) ✔︎ 6. Her Enemy (2023) ✔︎ 7. Her Feud (2024) I have read each and every book in this series. (i've also read each and every book this author has published). As always this is a first class gripping read. Its difficult to keep a series going but this one has been absolutely superb. The author has surpassed expectations on each and every release. Smashing it each and every time. I just could not get bored reading about this family. The Drews, a force to be reckoned with. They'd be great as friends, but I certainly wouldn't want them as an enemy. Cillian and Billie are getting married Lily could not be any more pleased. Her family is expanding. To Lily family is everything. Although we do have a drift between Lily and her other son Connor. Time is passing and neither of them seem to be making the move to make things right. It got so bad that Connor has moved over to another 'firm. Cillian is hoping things will work out with Connor and his mother as he want's both of them at his wedding. Its his and Billies day and they want no tension anywhere. It's their special day and nothing will spoil it. Can Lily and Connor get past pride and finally admit they need each other. Ray and Lily are still at loggerheads after the past has caught them up. Will things ever be right between these two. Has to much water gone under the bridge. If you have got to this book in the series then it's clear you are an avid fan. Its a superb addition and one that should not be missed. If you have not read any of these but enjoy a gritty gangland crime thriller then you really need to start at the beginning of this series. It really is worth reading these books in order for the best experience. I've grown over a few years reading about these character, I've been invested in their lives and I can truly say I've loved each and every page of it. His muscles are slack. His eyes are empty. There are no signs of life. But he is not quite dead… When Detective Kim Stone races to the crime scene, there is no body waiting for her: the paramedics are desperately trying to save the victim’s life. But there is something very strange about the way the man was found, his arms raised above his head, his legs spread apart. When he dies on the way to the hospital, Kim is certain she’s on the hunt for a killer… but all evidence at the scene has been destroyed. The dead man, Eric Gould, seems ordinary, until the team dig into his past. As a teenager, he was locked away for attacking his girlfriend, and Kim suspects he was hurting his fiancé now. The team realise the killer is sending a message – the victims’ bodies are spelling out their sins. As boys, they were both part of a group of six who bragged about their terrible crimes. But they were children then, and when she sees the grief on the faces of their loved ones now, Kim swears to find answers. Is someone finally getting revenge… or do they think these men are still dangerous? The killer is threatening to strike again, and the only way Kim can crack the case is by tracking down the rest of the six first. But then a revelation about what one of her team is suffering makes Kim understand why people take the law into their own hands. Do these victims deserve what’s coming to them? Or is there even more to fear from their brutal killer? Unputdownable from start to finish, Bad Blood is a brilliantly gripping crime thriller with a reveal you’ll never see coming. Fans of Karin Slaughter, Robert Dugoni and Val McDermid will love the latest compulsive read from multi-million-copy bestseller Angela Marsons. My Thoughts on this book..Just how the blooming heck have we got to book 19. Book 19 in a series I have absolutely loved following. Back with the team, Kim, Bryant, Penn and Stacey. Things are a struggle for the team at the moment. One of the gang is having problems and hasn't found the courage to tell the others as yet. This makes for an uncomfortable time for the team. We kick off with a bit of strange case as the murder victim is actually still alive, he is however in a rather strange pose when found. Absolutely no evidence at the scene where he was found as it's been destroyed while paramedics were attending to him. What can have happened to this ordinary man, is there more going on than meets the eye. What happens when another man is found in a similar way. The team kick in to action. The story ramps up another notch and we are in full Kim Stone mode. Nothing matters but solving the case. That is until Kim realises she is needed more than ever. Needed for something a littles closer to home. Murders she can solve, but can she solve what seems to be a barrier in her team. Has she got what it takes to be the boss that is needed but also a friend. This book I feel really has brought out another side to the team, What lengths would you go to, to protect one of your own. Just like every other book this author has written, this is gripping, adrenaline filled excitement. As always a stonking good read. With each and everyone of these books I always tell myself to take my time, read a little each evening and savour the book. I start reading.. Chapter one... OMG before i know it I'm almost at the end, then I tell myself off for racing through. Yet I do it each and every time, you'd think I'd learn by now. These are not books to be read over a period of time. These are books that need devouring, in one sitting if possible, because our queen of the Crime Thrillers has done it again. Wicked Girls by Heather Atkinson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars Another superb read. Heather Atkinson has written some absolutely amazing books, the characters and stories she creates are always first class. I don't know how or where the idea's come from but so glad she keeps coming up with new and fresh reads. This time around, Wicked girls takes us back to the start for Toni and Valerie. If you have read the Gallowburn Series then you will be familiar with the main characters of this book. Toni and Valerie are cousins, Part of the notorious McVay family. This book shows us just how it all started for this family. What makes them into the characters we know and love in the previous books. It was good to go back to the start and see just what turned these two ladies into the women they have become. Family life certainly wasn't easy and it's clear while reading this book just what turned Toni into the iron woman she is today. Valerie may seem like the one with her head screwed on, the one that is calm and in control but don't let her dog collar fool you. She is also a woman to be taken seriously and listened to. There was superb tension throughout this book, the story kept me gripped and wanting more. absolutely gripping and a first class read. This author can certainly write a page turner. OOOOHHH my days.. Another stonker of a read. This author can write a damn good page turner, that's for sure.
While Jamie’s cold, lifeless body lay in the morgue, Detective Kim Stone stared at the empty board in the incident room and felt her anger boil. Why were there no photos, details, or lines of enquiry? When a nineteen-year-old boy, Jamie Mills, is found hanging from a tree in a local park, his death is ruled a suicide. Detective Kim Stone’s instincts tell her something isn’t right – but it’s not her investigation and her temporary replacement is too busy waiting for the next big case to be asking the right questions. Why would a seemingly healthy boy choose to end his life? Why does his mother show no sign of emotional distress at the loss of her son? Still mending her broken mind and body from her last harrowing case, Kim is supposed to be easing back into work gently. But then she finds a crucial, overlooked detail: Jamie had a recent injury that would have made it impossible for him to climb the tree. He must have been murdered. Quickly taking back charge of her team and the case, Kim visits Jamie’s parents and is shocked to hear that they had sent him to a clinic to ‘cure’ him of his sexuality. According to his mother, Jamie was introverted and prone to mood swings. Yet his friend speaks of a vibrant, outgoing boy. The clues to smashing open this disturbing case lie behind the old Victorian walls of the clinic, run by the Gardner family. They claim that patients come of their own accord and are free to leave at any time. But why are those that attended the clinic so afraid to speak of what happens there? And where did the faded restraint marks identified on Jamie’s wrists come from? Then the body of a young woman is found dead by suffocation and Kim makes two chilling discoveries. The victim spent time at the clinic too, and her death was also staged to look like a suicide. Scarred from an ordeal that nearly took her life, is Kim strong enough to stop a terrifying killer from silencing the clinic’s previous patients one by one? A compulsive page-turner that will have your heart hammering in your chest and leave you absolutely reeling when you discover the explosive final twist. If you’re a fan of Karin Slaughter, Val McDermid, and Robert Dugoni, you’ll love Hidden Scars. Can be read as a standalone. Hidden Scars is the latest book in the very addictive Kim Stone series. A series of books i have followed from the beginning and a series that i love reading. Marsons know how to deliver a killer read and never fails to keep the reader engrossed. I don't really know what i can say that I haven't said before about this series, It's by far one of my favorite and this book will certainly hit my top 10 of 2022. After a long absence Kim Stone is back to work. Her team are thrilled to have her back. The temp Di they have been working with while Stone has been on leave isn't up to the standard they are used to. He's certainly not very much liked by the team. Kim maybe back in body but has her mind returned with her. She just doesn't seem to have the umph, she normally has. Good old Keats to the rescue, can he awake the real 'Kim Stone and put her back on the right track and functioning as a copper again. The Kim we know and love has to be in there somewhere. It's good to be back with the team, the banter, the way they work, their dynamics are just brilliant. Marsons has created a superb team that work well together on the page. What appears to be a typical suicide is soon realised that there is nothing typical about it, Once the team start to dig deeper a whole new theme emerges. The story within this book regarding sexuality was written really well, Showing how different people can see things so differently. It was brilliantly put together how families can react when your sexual identity doesn't fit their 'expectations. Even in todays society there are still so many obstacles for people of same sex relationships. So many people stuck in the past and this was written about in this story perfectly. As always this was a Dark, thrilling, exciting read and once started you must realise it will be difficult to put down. Bravo Angela you not only delivered you exceeded all expectations. . Book your manicure in now because you'll have no nails left when you finish.

This isn't a genre a read very often but after reading one of Pam's book a few years ago, I now look forward to a new one being published. I know i'm going to be lost in the lives of the characters, everything about these books come alive while reading. A Royal Visit to Victory Street was an exceptional, comforting read. an easy read that I knew i wasn't going to be putting this book down once started. I'm certain if you look back at my reviews for this series, they will all say pretty much the same. 'The best one yet!
I seriously do not know how this author does it, but I'm so glad she does. Each time I think ' you'll never better this one, and each time that is exactly what happens. Still, it's the best one yet. Back with Kim Stone and her merry crew. This time we have an extra member to the team. A much inconvenience for Kim. A new investigation into the killing of a family. It seems that a mother has killed her family. What tragedy could force someone to do such an evil act. What changed so bad from one day to the next for someone to flip like this. It's the job of the team to figure out the where, why and how. As usual a superb team working together makes all the difference in a complex case. Although there are some tensions between some of the team, they still all work together, but why hasn't Kim noticed this earlier. Could this split her team. Along with heading a new case, Kim Stone finds her life is in danger, and something Kim really isn't comfortable with is having no control over this. An old case is about to creep up on Kim. In this gripping read you'll find out exactly what happened. You may also think you know what has happened, just like I did. I had it all sussed out, knew where the book was going, well I thought I did. How wrong was I, good job I'm not a detective that's for sure. I was lead down the garden path, I was so, so wrong. What a superb written story. Gripping the whole way through, such an exciting read. Listen, if you have not read this series of books then I think it's time you did. It's time to treat yourself. Get lost in the world of Kim Stone, get absorbed in each and every page. You will not want to stop until there are no more books to read. Then you will wish you could un-read them and start all over again. Bravo, Angela Marsons, you keep your books fresh, engaging and totally gripping that once started it's impossible to put down. I can't wait for more. Huge fan of this author and i can't praise her writing enough, it's outstanding.

25 years ago he took a girl. Today he takes another.
One August afternoon, eight-year-old Grace Lennard skips into the garden of the childcare centre she attends and vanishes into thin air. Rushing to the scene of Grace’s disappearance, Detective Kim Stone finds a chilling piece of evidence: the engraved heart bracelet belonging to Melody Jones – the little girl who was taken from a playground exactly twenty-five years ago. Hours before, Steven Harte had walked into Halesowen police station and confessed to having information that would lead Kim to Melody. And he told Kim she’d have a more urgent problem to deal with first. Now Kim must play Steven’s twisted game if she’s to find Grace alive. With only twenty-four hours to make every second of Steven’s interrogation count, and scan his behaviour for hidden clues, Kim and her team soon link Steven to the abduction of several vulnerable girls – two were kept for a year and then released, unharmed – but where are Melody and the others? Then small bones are discovered in the grounds of a local park, and Kim fears the worst. Kim may think she’s close to convicting a killer, but the case is about to get even more complex. Steven is hiding one final explosive truth and he’s not the only one. Dr Alex Thorne – the evil woman Kim did her best to keep behind bars is about to reveal a shocking secret to Kim that will hit her where it hurts the most. Kim knows she must put aside her own demons to save Grace and find the other missing girls in time. But can Kim untangle Steven’s web before any more innocent lives are lost? An edge-of-your-seat thriller that will leave your heart in your mouth. You will be totally hooked on the utterly addictive, number one, multi-million-copy bestselling Detective Kim Stone series.
ohhh Angela. What is going on, how do you do it. How do you make every book the new 'best one yet' phenonimal What more can you say. First class as always.
Doesn't matter what i'm reading, when this author releases a new book the whole world can wait. I know i caouldn't just carry on with normal life knowing that this was waiting for me to read. Kick off your shoes, put on your 'voicemail and turn your phone to silent. Lock the door and get lost in another nailbiting read featuring the awesome Kim Stone and crew. As always an amazing mix of characters and those we have come to love over the series, or hate. An old case is looked into when Steven Harte rocks up at the station will alleged information on a young girl that went missing over 20 years ago. The team get news of a young girl Grace Lennard, who has gone missing from her nursery. It appears the child had walked out of the back gate which had been left open. The team as always put their everything into the case, a missing girl now is a higher priority than that of a missing girl all those years ago. But, what if there is a link. what if this missing child is connected to the old case, or someone involved is conneceted?

“I want Michael Hunter to fall so deeply in love with me that he can’t bear to be more than fifty feet away,” Cher declares to her best friends over cheesecake and wine. But what if she’s searching for happiness in the wrong place?
As Cher types up letters about overflowing rubbish bins in a job she hates, she dreams of Michael Hunter. He’s gorgeous, smart, funny and he’s about to become her new boss. But he barely looks at Cher except to ask for a coffee refill. How can she get him to notice she’s the perfect girl for him? While Cher ignores the warning from workmate Dan that Michael is bad news, her friends have their own problems to fix. Sarah is longing to start a new life with a man who won’t commit, and bride-to-be Deb should be looking forward to her wedding, but her future mother-in-law is turning it into a nightmare from hell... If only her fiancé could see it that way. So, when one summer evening, over several glasses of wine, Cher, Sarah and Deb stumble across an old book and decide to cast a wishing spell, they don’t think for one minute that it will come true. It’s just three best friends having a laugh and throwing some herbs around the garden. Or is it? Totally unputdownable, absolutely full of laugh-out-loud ‘I’ve so done that’ moments, and plenty of emotional twists and turns that will keep you refilling your wine and racing through to the end. The perfect romantic comedy for fans of Shari Low and Sophie Kinsella.
I really didn't know what to think when I noticed the authors name on this book. I absolutely, have loved each and every book this author has written. Her writing style is first class.
It may be a change in genre, but Marsons has still managed to create characters that are likeable. This was a fun and enjoyable read. I couldn't wait to follow these three friends, Cher, Sarah, and Deb on their journey of happiness. In parts this story has some really fun elements, some real comedy moments that made me laugh out loud. I also found following someone who thinks they know what they want from life great and interesting. It's fascinating how everyone around can see what you want, yet knows its not the right thing for you. As they say 'The grass isn't always greener on the other side' These ladies are off to find what it is that is going to make them happy. It's a fun, fun, fun read following them and seeing if the reality of what they think they want is actually what they really want. Brilliantly written, well paced and enjoyable easy read. Just what I needed to rid myself of the trauma's real life is throwing my way. I love how this author can turn her hand to writing pretty much anything and making it god damn amazing. Angie, you are bloody awesome, can wait for more. If you haven't read any books by this author, I really would recommend that you change that, treat yourself, you deserve it. I have no issues at all recommending this authors work.

Bad Blood by Heather Atkinson #BadBlood #Review #Boldwoodbloggers @rararesources @HeatherAtkinso14/6/2021
I absolutely loved the first book in this new series, I also loved this one, the second book.
Heather Atkinson is a very talented author, each of the series she does is fantastic, you get lost in her story telling, addicted to the books because you really do not know what is coming next. Her books are not repetitive, each and every book feels new and fresh. In this the newest series we are slowly getting to know the characters, and as always Heather has created fantastic likeable characters. We have four friends, who are known on the estate as The Blood Brothers-Jamie, Logan, Gary, and Digger. Brilliant characters, I can see these characters could have a huge future and this could be a series that goes a long way. The boys Keep the estate clean, clean as in, no trouble, no dealers. If there is a problem then the boys are called up on. Jamie has nothing to do with his father, however he's turned up like a bad penny and bringing trouble with him. Jamie's mother Jackie is not impressed, she has no time at all for Jamie's father and wants Jamie to stay away from him. Jackie is a formidable character, she's first class, I love how her character has been created and her love of a frying pal is brilliant. Jamie is also stressed with the upcoming court case of his girlfriend, Allegra's father. Her father is being tired for her murder. Jamie had never loved like he did with Allegra, she was Jamie's all, all he ever wanted and all he ever needed. The two of them being brought up in totally different worlds is how the trouble from her father started for them in the first book. Jamie has to try and get on with life, but with his father on the scene it appears things can only get worse. Totally loved this book, each and every page was enjoyed. I really can not wait for more from this series and I'm eager to see what happens with some of these characters. Well done to the author you have created another addictive series. Can't recommend this book highly enough, but must stress it will be much better if you have read book 1. Happy reading.
