Thanks go to the publishers, Author and Netgalley for a review copy of this book. DETECTIVE NIKKI GALENA’S FRIEND THINKS SHE HAS A DEADLY STALKER, BUT WILL ANYONE BELIEVE HER BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE? DI Nikki Galena’s close friend Helen Brook is involved in a serious accident where she is trapped in a collapsed cellar. After her hard-won recovery, Helen is still getting flashbacks to a man she says was down there with her and who confessed to a murder. But no trace of this man can be found. Then Helen tells Nikki that someone is watching her. But is all this in her friend’s imagination and part of her post-traumatic stress? And why is Stephen Cox back in town? He’s the villain who tore Nikki’s life apart and he seems to have returned to wreak more chaos. Before long the whole town is on the verge of hysteria and her friend’s fear will lead Nikki and Joseph on a very dangerous trail. Full of twists and turns, this is a crime thriller that will keep you turning the pages until the heart-stopping conclusion. THE DETECTIVE DI Nikki Galena: A police detective with nothing left to lose, she’s seen a girl die in her arms and her own family destroyed. She’s tough on the criminals who she thinks did this to her. HER PARTNER DS Joseph Easter is the squeaky-clean new member of the team. But his nickname “Holy Joe” belies his former life as a soldier. He has an estranged daughter who blames him for everything that went wrong with their family. THE SETTING The Lincolnshire Fens: great open skies brood over marshes, farmland, and nature reserves. It is not easy terrain for the Fenland Constabulary to police, due to the distances between some of the remote Fen villages, the dangerous and often misty lanes, and the poor telephone coverage. There are still villages where the oldest residents have never set foot outside their own farmland and a visit to the nearest town is a major event. But it has a strange airy beauty to it, and above it all are the biggest skies you’ve ever seen. It's certainly no secret, I am a huge fan of this series. From book one I have enjoyed each and every book. Here we are all ready, at book 5 and the series is growing from strength to strength. I feel the characters have become great established characters and I'm enjoying reading more about them. I enjoy the way they work together, the way the team has been built.
I'm really hoping there is going to be a lot more to this series. And hoping it could become a long running series of books. It kicks off with Nikki and Joseph being in the vicinity of what turns out to be an explosion. Trying to help free someone trapped inside a building, it turns out it is one of Nikki's friends. Fast forward and Helen is still recovering but also trying to move on with her life. Her problem is she is convinced she is being followed. Convinced someone is watching her. Having flashbacks to her accident she believes she was not alone in that collapsed building the day of her accident. She is convinced someone was there in the rubble with her. It has been brilliantly written, and put together this story. You kind of feel sorry for Helen, but are unsure if she is maybe suffering from some sort of Post traumatic stress, and imagining a lot of what she's claiming is happening. At the same time you are as convinced in parts as she is. Brilliantly put together. Nikki and Joseph have a big job ahead of them, trying to help Helen and it also seems that Cox is back in town. A character from pervious book's that has led the police a merry dance. Hurting Nikki in a way no one wants to be hurt. She is still raw and out to get him. I love how the books are set in 'The Fens' It gives the impression of a beautiful place, and a scary spooky place all at the same time. I am so concerned about giving to much away in this book. But I can't stress enough how much it is worth reading. It's a fantastic addition to the series and believe me, once you start this, it is one of those books that you really need to finish. Be warned thought, you want to get to the end, but end up gutted when it's finished. It leaves you wanting more from the series. And my own personal opinion is that, this series would be enjoyed a whole lot more if the books are read in order. NIKKI GALENA SERIES Book 1: CRIME ON THE FENS Book 2: SHADOW OVER THE FENS Book 3: HUNTED ON THE FENS Book 4: KILLER ON THE FENS Book 5: STALKER ON THE FENS

Detective Ruby Preston Crime Thriller Series
Book 1 Where do you start, when you have read a book like this, when writing a review becomes so much more difficult. This is again one of those times when I really wish that I knew how to put my feelings and thoughts, into the correct words. Words that make it sound so much better than, things like, Read it. Buy it. You'll love it. Because basically that is pretty much all I want to say. It's when I wish I could come up with something that sounds intellectual, like I know what I'm talking about. Well I'm not intellectual, but I do know what I'm talking about. I'm talking about a book, a book that is the first book in what can only be a freaking awesome series, if this first one is anything to go by. It still amazes me that there are so so many crime, authors out there. Yet somehow this story is original, intriguing yet different all at the same time. I'm guessing Caroline's career in the police has greatly helped her when writing such a true to life story. I have to say it was pretty creepy in parts. It will certainly have you holding your breath on more than one occasion. We have women being killed, killed by someone they believe to be a daughter they gave up years ago, that in itself is creepy, but the way this book has been written and so brilliantly put together, well it just makes the hairs on your neck stand up. Working the case is Ruby and her team. It's a tough case and has a very personal feel about it, to Ruby. I really liked Ruby as a character, she was flawed, not perfect but doesn't really care. She has one hell of a screwed up personal life. And one that if she is not careful could screw up her work life to. But I am so looking forward to see how this goes over future books. I'm looking forward to seeing just where this series will go, and how the hell Caroline is going to manage to improve on this one. (NO pressure there Caroline). I really can't wait for more from this series.

Craig Macklin was a teenager when his headteacher told him he was heading either to prison or the grave. Instead, Craig left the north of England, saying goodbye to his friends and family to start a new life. Thirteen years on, redundant and separated from his wife, he returns to his hometown for the first time. It's Christmas: markets in full swing, lights twinkling, shoppers shopping, revellers revelling. Manchester has seen a revolution. The buildings soar higher, the shopping centres sprawl wider. New industries have replaced old and yet, away from the glitter, the tinsel, the hot spiced cider and the enormous inflatable Santa, some things will never change. Despite the seasonal sense of jollity, there are secrets from which Craig cannot escape and, when debt-collectors call on his parents' house, Craig realizes the teenage hell-raiser he left behind might not be so buried after all 4/5 Well I have to start by saying I am a HUGE Kerry Wilkinson fan. I love his Jessica Daniel series of books. Here we have a stand alone. Craig is home from London after a good few years away he's back to Manchester. I love how I can visualise most of the places Kerry writes about, as I'm familiar with the area. I don't know what it is, but I always find this adds to the story for me. I also enjoy how Kerry's books always seem modern and up to date. In this book we flit from Craig as a teenager and a grown up Craig now. It helps you piece together a lot of his history, and how his friendships with Mark and Kimberley were formed. I think the timeline of past and present really helps build the atmosphere for this book, it really does add to the edginess off the story. It gives it the air of suspense that leaves you wondering what the hell is going on. As I stated, Craig is back from London to a Manchester he doesn't exactly recognise. He has returned and wants to help his mother and father who have become caught up with owing money to well, lets just say not so nice money lenders. Well with just that info it's quite clear that things are not going to end happily ever after, and sometimes just paying the debt in full with cash just isn't an option. Overall I really enjoyed this book. I did think it a little slow right at the start, but as soon as I got into it, it ramped up a gear. I have just finished it at silly o clock in the morning as my neighbours house alarm woke me at 3am, I thought I'd just finish the chapter I was on, but 3 hours later it was time to get up just as I finished the book. There is just something about Kerry's books that scream at me that I have to read them, no matter what they are about. If I'm honest I didn't even read the blurb for this book. As far as I was concerned it was a Kerry Wilkinson book so it was a must read. And it is. Treat yourself and get lost in a cracking story. But try and start it on a day you have nothing else to do, because it's easy to get lost into the story. I so can't wait for more from Kerry Wilkinson, and I'm eagerly awaiting the next Jessica Daniel instalment.

This is a debut novel? You have got to be kidding me right!
Grippingly Twisty. Well Well Well, I really do not know where the hell to start with this. So firstly Thank you to Netgalley, Bookouture and K.L. Slater for allowing me an ARC of this book. Freakin Awesome it is. I finished this book yesterday but long after finishing I kept thinking about it, and thinking what I would do, what I could have done. It really managed to get in my head this one. I think it's because all the way through you have questions you want answering. But these questions are only answered bit by bit as the story progresses. The book kicks off with Anna witnessing and accident. Anna is a pretty quite person who likes to keep herself to herself. (A bit like me) Get's on with her job and doesn't really socialise with others. I guess you could say she's a bit of a loner. It was 13 years ago when something happened in Anna's life that changed everything for her, and everything about her. She pop's in when she can on the old lady next door, Ivy. Who does seem to try and keep an eye on her having known her for many many years. Ivy notices things are slowly changing for Anna and is concerned for her. The accident Anna witnesses brings back many things probably best forgotten from her past. Liam has been knocked off his bike by a lady who Anna seems to recognise right away. And Anna needs to find out more about this woman Carla, where and what she has been doing for the last 13 years. After all this is the woman who changed Anna's life forever and ruined it all for her. Holding Liam's hand after the accident Anna realises that the one way of getting to know What Carla has been doing is by becoming Liam's friend... Cue the madness... It doesn't take long for this to become one serious obsession, one that can only end badly but for who? What I feel I really need to say about this book is that you need to start it on a day when you have nothing else to do, because believe me you will not want to put this down once you start it. An exceptional story for a debut, that's for sure. And I really do look forward to reading more in the future from this author.
